That noise you hear at the end of the video was my spinner rubbing the cowl. The motor mount came loose again! I don't know what I am going to do to fix this permanently. I would have been so friggin mad if I crashed again. I could not figure out why I was constantly having to trim the plane while flying, now I know.

Has anyone tried to use the FreeWing servo arms on their FMS planes, are they interchangeable?

Hey Sean, can't answer that but just wanted to let ya know I haven't been able to fly lately and try the retract plates out. I see yours worked well so I'm looking forward to it! Just need the freaking wind to quit howling.

Maybe your troubles are behind you now.  Can't wait to try out the braces, still anxiously waiting their arrival!!

Nice to see that P51 of yours get up and flying, you're long overdue.  I could sense the nervousness at takeoff.  I could hear you thinking, "Is this the last time I'll see her in one piece?"

Sorry for your loss but regrettably that is part of the game. Buy em build em love em caress em and sometimes destroy em. I've had fatal crashes on a couple myself both my fault. It seems to hurt less after the first one thankfully.

It'll only hurt for a day because then you will take a better look at the aftermath and say " hey I can rebuild this wreck".
That is the great thing about these foamies because you can generally get them back in the air for less than a C note, that is if you didn't fence post it in from 200 ft.

Sorry to hear Flygirl. It always hurts to loose one of your favorites. Hopefully you can rebuild. That's the nature of our hobby and as it said one the first page of the KC-135 flight manual "Flying is inherently dangerous". Once again sorry to hear,I hope better days are ahead.

Thanks Roy! This one is toast but I might get another one at some point. The way I see it, I now have a whole bunch of spare servos. LOL!

Charlie, this one isn't salvageable I don't think.... Maybe I should look into that though. Half of the fuselage (the rear) is up high on some guys roof. I have the front part which is mostly crushed. The wings are salvageable I think. It would need a lot of parts though!

Sean, as to what happened I flew into this one area where I have had radio glitches before (on 3 different planes) and it did. Then when it glitched (a dive to the right) I lost orientation (I panicked). The rest of the time, to be honest, I'm not sure if it was me screwing up or I was getting more glitches. It hit a tree pretty far away and fell nose first onto a guys roof. As usual for the P51's it broke in half and the whole front has compression wrinkles while the tail is still high up on the roof. The wing and front fuse were in the guys front yard. I'm just happy it didn't hurt anything or anyone.

SOB, I'll take one.... I have to anyways because my little flying group has a trophy for worst wreck of the year and at this point, I got it in the bag. LOL!

Alright! Don't feel to bad, had something wonky going on with my Stearman today, ended up nose into a plowed field, while not fatal, its pretty frickin' ugly at the moment!

But you know, speaking of glitches, were you flying near or over a tin roof?  The reason I ask is that I fly quite close to the school roof which is inclined and metal.  Being that we're dealing with radio frequencies here, I'm wondering if that may have contributed??

Hey Gman!That's entirely possible. There are some metal structures on top of the school that would have been between my location and the plane where reflections could occur. Oddly, I have flown over that area with my multirotors plenty of times and never had an issue but I have been hit by glitches with my Corvalis, my Pandora, and now the P-51, all planes. I have no idea what that means or even if it is relevant. However, I'm going to stop flying trikes or anything that needs tarmac to take off and just use the grass athlteic field. That will keep me away from that area where I got the glitches. Gonna get a Flyzone Beaver to replace the Mustang and then, except for the Corvalis, everything I have will fly off grass.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your P-51. At least you were able to get most of the re-usable parts back, servos, ESC, Motor, receiver, etc. It sure sounds like tin roof is connected to your glitches. Perhaps it doesn't affect the drones as much since they are more stationary and have the gyros to keep them stable. A short brown-out or loss of signal probably wouldn't affect them as much as a plane going 40-50mph that has to re-acquire the signal and still give you time to correct for its flight path variations.

If it helps, I have the Corvalis, and have always flown off grass with no problems. In fact, I have never flown off tarmac at all, but would love to have the chance! The grass field where I fly has a soccer field and the grass is kept very short on the playing field. The rest of the field is mowed, but not super short. Anyway, you might try the Corvalis at your field, it might surprise you.

Hey Rich! They don't mow this field very well unfortunately. It wasn't bad this past weekend (I should have tried it) but later on in the year that creeper grass gets in there and it's almost viney but I'll give it a try... Did your nosegear hold up okay? I've had to replace mine once already but I think that was because I hit a curb? Can't remember... It was last year and I am O L D. LOL!

This is the field I fly at from one of my multirotors.... I was looking for a tin roof but I can't tell. The glitch spot is right over the front entrance circle of the school. The red car is me near the grass field and that lot next to the car is where I was flying the P-51.
