Believe it or not, I had the Q screw come loose on mine. So keep an eye on those as well

No takeoff problems for me. It's just fine.

Thank you for this very helpful information (I just ordered two of these twin packs for my Old Crow). As a long time glider pilot and engineer, I just can't bring myself to ever add dead weight to an aircraft - now extra battery weight to achieve proper CG? YES!
Going to start assembly on mine tonight - with the intention of a maiden on Saturday (weather permitting).

Good luck. Be ready for the engine torque when you start rolling. It is pretty dramatic. Easy into the throttle and lots of rudder.

Any chance you can send the physical dimensions of these batteries. I'm using Admiral 4000s that barely fit. Also, I want to use the 4000s in my new Corsair which are a VERY tight fit. If these are the same, or even smaller, I'll give them a try.

Same size as my 4000s. What kind of time do you get from them? I can get 5 min from the 4000s

About the same but I only fly to storage voltage. I imagine if I flew the pack out i could get possibly 6.

Mine end up about 20-25% remaining. How many flights have you gotten from them. I have heard that some batteries start crapping out after 20-30 flights. I track my battery time and have gotten over 10 hrs out of one of my 3S Admiral batteries and it still is working, but you can tell it struggles. Haven't gotten that much time on the 4S batteries yet. Curious about the life span you might get.

These I have just started using, I originally got them for my 8s corsair. But most of my packs I get at least 2 years out of them (mostly 6s) but they still are strong. Hopefully I'll get more of an idea of their longevity later on. But as of now most of these particular packs only have 1 or 2 flights on them each

Hey rifleman--great that you added an Old Crow to your fleet. I had a blast with mine; although I don't take it to the field as much as I used to...been full on EDF mode, but today, I took her out for a couple of flights and I rediscovered how much I loved about her--particularly takeoffs and landings.

For you and all the other folks new to the Freewing Old Crow--I would suggest going over to the main FW P-51 "Old Crow" thread located here: https://www.hobbysquawk.com/forum/rc...-p-51-old-crow. You will most likely find what you're looking for there as most things have been asked, answered and tweaked over time...especially recommendations, handling techniques, control throws/TX setups, Wt. and Balance, etc. 🙂

Heck yeah I also have my new wingset for my T28. Had to get them because the gear mounts were basically destroyed. So now with a new set of wings oleo struts, and solid gear mounts, I can focus on completing my fpv project I've been working on. Twin cameras on 2 head tracking systems so a passenger can look around independently of the pilot.

There is another really great resource on this airplane on RCGroups: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...-sound-unit%29
Don't let the title scare you away, most of the information applies to Old Crow (no sound system) and the later posts are pretty much all Old Crow.

I just ordered a set of these ($78 on E-Bay) and an adapter for the Deans plug. According to the specs they are a little shorter and heavier than the Admiral 4000s. Hopefully they last. I've only used Admirals up til now.
