I like the orange and white one. I did a lot of my flying lessons in a orange and white 150 like it back in the 90,91.

Nice! Growing up here in the Pacific Northwest I got to watch the hydros on Lake Washington. My favorite since I was little was the Pay N' Pak. There was just something about the orange and black on white that I have always loved. I even had my favorite all-time hydro the 1982 U-25 Pay N' Pak custom built in 1:8 scale fully ready for the water. I only put it on the water once and retired it as I didn't want anything to happen to it, lol.Originally posted by Pauly View PostI like the orange and white one. I will be painting it up this weekend. Should be a fun project! (This is a photo of the driver John Walters holding a 1:8 scale 1982 Pay N' Pak identical to mine).

So I started the process of repainting today. I made some serious rookie mistakes. All due to laziness to be perfectly honest.
One, I decided not to prime because the local hardware store didn't have a primer paint. I thought (stupidly I admit) "I will just buy a couple cans of white to cover the red. No biggie."
Yes, I know. DUMB THINKING ON MY PART.
And then the inevitable ensued. No amount of white paint was covering the red areas. At one point I made the cardinal sin of spraying more paint to try to cover the red so it started to run. Worse yet, the cells started to gator from the excessive enamel.
AAAAAACCCCCKKK!!!
So I had a white plane with pink areas, gatoring and runs everywhere. Niiiiice Todd.
I decided tonight to be proactive and try to change the situation. So I sanded down the runs and decided to alter my livery choice slightly to cover all the "pink spots". The orange color I chose went on perfectly. One coat. So now I am filled with hope that all is not lost after all, lol. I can't do anything about the gatoring but from a few feet or more away you don't notice it so I have to focus on that, lol.
Today I will finish the livery off with the black trim and I am hoping it doesn't look too bad when all is said and done.
I may have dodged a bullet this time. A classic reminder not to get lazy and do things the right way!My YouTube RC videos:

Anything is possible if you are willing to do the work.Originally posted by rifleman_btx View PostWonder if one could carefully cut the windows then place some clear plastic windows in place? Just doesn't seem possible how the hatch is cut though
To cut out the windows ans install thin plexiglass, Lexan or PET (soda bottle) windows, you'd have to do considerable planning and construct the support structure for keeping the wings tied to the fuselage.
I generally don't see it being worth the effort on a foamy trainer.FF gliders and rubber power since 1966, CL 1970-1990, RC since 1975.

I am thinking of something like this...Look at the windows in this rendering. Maybe something where each window offers different gradients and shapes to offer the illusion of depth instead of a flat color. Thoughts?Originally posted by Pauly View PostTodd, you plan on doing the windows black or gray? You'll have her just the way you want before you know it.

The windows has been my only thing on the looks of this airplane. I haven't had the chance to fly it and have only seen one assembled at a Fly-in this past weekend, but the guy didn't want to fly it for the fear of the wind. However, its still a good looking plane just if it had clear windows it would really set it off with a cockpit and a pilot.Still Learning:D

Rifleman, I agree! I know I have flown my Pandora in a lot more winds then most would fly in. He had said that anyone could fly it because it was so stable and easy to fly. It was a little windy, but not bad enough to ground me. I flew my Pandora, P47 and Grand Cruiser. I was hoping to see it fly, but maybe at the next one.Still Learning:D

Almost done with the painting process. For now I painted the windows black until I get the decals from Callie. This whole process has been a total nightmare. Worst painting experience I have had to date. Should have primed. All the trim tape pulled up all the paint...A ton of work just to get it to this point. To be honest if I knew it was going to be this much of a pain I would have just kept the stock scheme, lol.2 PhotosMy YouTube RC videos:
