So I bought a real aluminum tube with the proper size...It's as scale as you could get looks-wise. It's thicker than I prefer and ultimately heavier (0.7 lbs). However since this is a leisure hobby and not planning on racing it shouldn't matter. Now I have to figure out the ring thing in the middle and it should work!

The rolled aluminum or stainless will give him the best appearance I totally agree. But you. can also use a stainless steel vinyl wrap or aluminum tape. There are also metal based paints that do a decent job. What he basically wants is that strip added to a rolled aluminum stack like this. If you want real effect you add a LED afterburner light ring at the base of the stack. It ties in to the throttle..

    Btw
A good nitro 1/8th scale is a dying breed but I am considering a real turbine.

Its a fast electric so the turbine stack does not have to be metal. It sees no heat at all.

He has different turbine stacks for different hulls. The one posted is for my 3 wing circus.

Steve makes his exhaust stack out of epoxy and fiberglass cloth.

Btw what cells are you going to run? What are the rules for the class you plan to run in your WA club. ? I was hoping Pinnix won the "natty" btw.

If you get the epoxy glass stack from Steve that detail is there you just have to paint it accordingly. If you do rolled aluminum just cut the extra strip and roll it too. I'm going to work on the scratch built Finlay version of this boat and post it in another thread.

I get it . Most of my boats stay on their build jig. It fits them well. 😁

Funny you should say that, I contacted Mike last night and said I was looking for a nice stand but didn't quite need that scale stand...(or the expense which doesn't include the axles/wheels)...He said he thought the GSX480 kit stand might work but it's still not quite what I am looking for. I'll keep looking. Thanks!

Clugh, the painter contacted me to go ahead and bring the boat in so I did yesterday. Price for everything is pretty darn reasonable. Thank you again for your offer it was very appreciated.

I'm currently looking for a boat stand for her. Not the PVC pipe kind. Something a bit more robust that I could paint and add decals to (I have a spare set of Pak decals from a different decal maker). Any ideas? I've been looking around and can't find anything like that for a 1/8 scale unlimited.

Also, I am trying to figure out what to use for that ring in the middle of the turbine tube (see photo below). Any thoughts on that would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

Purchased? Argh.... uve broken my💔 LOL u can few strips of 3/4 mdf or ply and use 3m 77 spray adhesive to fix the sand paper to the blocks Use a different grit on each side of the block. Trim it away perfect with exacto, razor blade, box cutter..... We are cheap 😄 and buy very little. I go through great effort to work with what I have already laying around the house when I can. its good to have the blocks you purchased I just hate to see you spend alot of money.. Sometime you might need to make a certain sized block any way to make work eazy in a small are where a big block wont go.. Say you had built the boat and you wanted to sand in between the bulkheads. Then you make a small sanding block. The wet dry works better because when it loads up with debris you can wash it away. If you do that you'd probably want to stick the sand paper to blocks out of marine or treated ply. The MDF will just swell up on you but I use it to make dry sanding blocks all the time.
