Gave my old T72 a makeover. Representing the final camouflage on East German vehicles in the last 18month before unification. Only about 5% of the fleet were painted in these colours. The first incarnation looked very similar to the NATO 3 colour pattern. However the the East Germans wanted a camouflage pattern that was able to be used all year. Fitted bearings to the plastic wheels, and fitted rubber tyres after sanding off the plastic ones. Installed a HL TK6.1 which I had in stock, which had been removed from my Challenger. Working head and tail lights. Hand operated dozer blaThe rear lights were from Christmas decorations. Cupola was revised, cannon smoke and flash installed, servo recoil and elevation. For a big tank there is not a lot of interior space.

No clue why my four photos in post Our new Thread! disappeared. Maybe unlucky 13? I'm not even able to edit the post to add them back in.

Anyway. here's trying again. Four little Panzers, all in a row:

Decided since I now have a Merkava, Shot Kal and Megach 6B that I no longer needed my M51 and was going to lighten my IDF theme tanks a little.
So I converted my Tamiya M51 to a late version M4 "EZ8" using a DKLM T26 76mm turret I had been using on one of my HL M4s. While I was at it I dumped my worn out Tamiya tracks and added a new pair of IMPACT "rubber" padded T84 tracks. I also replaced the old Tamiya DMD 7 with a new HL 7.1. Needles to say the tank drives a lot better. The HL 7.1 in combination with the Tamiya gearboxes equals one super smooth handling tank.
Slapped on some new paint and light weathering and presto a late model Tamiya "EZ8" is born. The name "War Pony" is a homage to the HL M4 that the turret was donated from.

Field day today, took the Sherman X and KV-2 (M) out for a run. Very hot and very dusty, but that's how desert ops are.
I like taking pics from either zoomed-in "helicopter" angles, or from down low, looking up at the tanks. Helps for a realistic feel of the scale of the tanks if they were life-size.

Nice work. I can see you nailed all the details, even the rear turret ventilator deletion.
