Now that the Wuhan Coronavirus restrictions are dwindling the LA Tank club is coming back and people are starting to talk about it.
As a veteran member of the group here along with Rubicon99 I thought I would start a thread.
The club is a loose knit group of come and go folk, previously with no internet interaction, however we have a new Facebook group called “Los Angela’s area RC Tank Club (LaTank)” were people can meet online to interact and follow news of the club.
LaTank meets at the American Military Museum in South ElMonte on Melrose st.
The new battle schedule going forward currently posted is first Saturday of each month starting at 10am.
The club is organized and run by a long time rc tank hobby veteran with a couple assistants though it’s fairly loose.
The museum sells various rc tanks and parts and that brings in an array of tank battlers to events. Lots of kids come and battle tanks with us here.
Setup starts at 10 and you will need a table and chairs for your equipment or find a spot to mooch. Pop ups are generally not needed because of limited space and all the shade trees. However for larger events we spill out the back gate and then you will enjoy a pop up canopy.
parking for the LATank is generally not in the museum parking lot because it is small. We enter the public park called the Narrows a few hundred yards south of the museum on Melrose and then drive a dirt road up to the South side of the museum back gate. You will see cars parking there, then enter the back gate for setup.
The fee is $5 per person and that also covers your entrance to the museum to tour all the real tanks and army trucks on display throughout the museum.
Some benefits of the LaTank club over 619th TB events are many well built field props and buildings scattering the field. The play of battle flow is very different between the two clubs offering different challenges and lots of fun.
