Got out today and was fortunate enough to maiden my first turbine jet. Pilot RC Dolphin running a Swiwin80. It was just fantastic! The Maiden went well and the weather was good enough to do it in Montana in February. Had to take advantage of it while we had it as now 8 hours later we have 4-6 inches of snow and it's only 15-20 degree's out.

Yes I had two waivered turbine pilots one of which is a CD with me doing the buddy box. Everything for my Turbine endeavor is 100% following the guide lines to avoid any issues!

Had an excellent evening of flying at Thunderbird Field today, including the a few flights on the newly completed 500 size SA-341 Gazelle featuring a fully 3D printed fuselage.

Engaged in some dogfight action with an L-39 in a Sirius. The jets are hard to see in a head-on merge, so small and flash by in a split second. My brain did not even register fast enough to turn my head on the fast pass

Finally Marvin put the video/photos together that I shot for the Banana Hobby Gulfstream website. I didn't want to put this in the PJ50 thread, but these 2 aircraft are almost identical (except the BH comes with a gyro) and I am quite confident that they will fly almost identically. This airframe's slow flight and overall stability is outstanding and seems to land like a kitten, possibly quite different from the AL37. We ended up getting over 10 minutes of flight time on an SMC 6200 and if I remember correctly, about 7:30 on an SMC 5300. Those of you waiting for your delivery of the PJ50 should definitely be excited. I know xviper already has his and posted a nice video so check that out as well if you're interested to see how your "incoming" Freewing Gulfstream will most likely fly.

About 7 years ago I bought my first foamie Mustang a 1450mm wingspan version in silver by Lanyu models.( they probably do not exist anymore) It came with fixed gear and no flaps and it has flown as a trouble free all year round flyer since.. The last couple of weeks have been cold and windy so I decided to repaint . This coming Easter we are having an Easter Fun Fly at DDMAC complete with target egg bomb drop and I have adapted the model to do same and had my first three successful bomb run flights today on a calm sunny day with a steady 3 deg C temperature. I am now putting together a crack aerobatic team, the Red Friars(photo below). The facial expressions could be because I stuck holes in them and blew out their brains with a straw. It worked however as there were no breakages as the Friars hit the target field. The shells weigh around 8gms each . Of course not only do I get a crack non parachute team but I also get a cake and some scones from the donated brains

UPDATE: I calibrated the throttle/ESC by doing the following:

Turn on the radio, turn on the MFC (esc battery lines UNPLUGGED). Everything should be on now except the ESC.
Put your throttle stick to high and plug in the ESC batteries. It will make a different beeping tone. Lower the throttle to zero. It'll beep again. It should be calibrated and initialize now.
Working just fine now. I post just in case any one else runs into this! I love the great help Hobby Squawk provides...it takes a village! Thanks again.

Just put together my HSD T-33. After completing all connections and hookups, I turned the model on to find everything works fine and is operable. But the ESC continues to just beep. I checked the throttle connection and found nothing. I looked under the MC2085 board to find the lead wire from ESC was in AUX5-2 which is wrong, I changed it to AUX6 for throttle. It continues to only beep. What am I doing wrong? I did a factory reset and still, it only beeps. HELP?
Sometimes you need to make sure your throttle trim is all the way down and if that don't work maybe lower your throttle end points, if that still doesn't do it, reverse your throttle channel and see what happens, I just set mine up and did have to lower the throttle trim to get the ESC working, I fly with Futaba and thats all I had to do, got 18 flights on it now, flies great.

RM, Not certain many can assist you with your binding issue here at the Squawk. I'd check the HSD website, (See Link Above) and look for a "Support" page. You might try starting a forum page here and see if that helps. Good luck, Sir. Best, LB

    F4U Ausie,
Being able to hold altitude bang on, first time at the controls is truly impressive! Congrats on checking off another item on the bucket list. Too much fun!

I would not be content to do it once and reminisce. And renting full scale planes on a regular basis is out of my paygrade So I settle for the next best thing. Flying from my model cockpits using head-tracking FPV, visually any way. I set up my planes really simple, no flight controller, no gyro even. Just install a FPV camera with pan & tilt and hook up to corresponding channels setup for head-tracker in transmitter and go fly. Lots of fun! Here's one practicing precision aerobatics from the cockpit. Enjoy!

Goina bore with it just once more.. what did i fly today.... well it wasnt a cessna,, it was a socata tb 10.. bucket list stuff, me anyway.. we took off from lilydale and flew 4 about almost 2 hours.. out over port phillip bay.. here is the best bit,, half hour aftter take off he said control is yours.. just the control columb.,,, elev and aileron.. my task was keep it at 2500 feet ,, about 500 feet under cloud cover,, and at 100 knots he is vfr only.. and then i got to do a 180 to head home all of that was not as hard as i thought.... but loootts of fuuunn when i did the 180 i kept the height bang on 2500.. he was suitably impresse Click image for larger version

Great landing video, thanks for shooting and sharing! Kudos to Marv for that landing managing throttle and elevator perfectly after touch down to hold a nose high wheelie on GRASS. What a beautiful Gulfstream!

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did a quick head-tracking FPV conversion on another EDF jet - happen to be also a Xfly - the Sirius. Unfortunately, the canopy was not clear enough to see through for flying so left it off. But otherwise it's super stable as an FPV platform. No FC or gyro needed. I did mod the nozzle size down to get more speed and efficiency. Stock nozzle size was way too big. Enjoy!
