Yes, electric - a much easier build and less messy than liquid juice. Maiden was a while ago. This is the 3rd flight.

One question - what are these little plastic bits for? They're not mentioned in the manual.

Still waiting for all of the lipos to show up. 😀

Congratulations, buddy! That VULCAN looks so beautiful and looks so good! Now let's get it set up properly and enjoy it for a long time.

The assembly is truly a delight; it goes together very quickly and without any problems. In my case, I opted to forgo the little blue box (which isn't really there for anything other than replacing the Y-cables) and put everything together with Y-cables, all neatly organized, securely fastened with cable ties, and with their respective hooks so they don't come loose.

Here's a link to the video of my VULCAN's maiden flight at the club where I fly. That was a year and a half ago, with countless flights in between, and it's still flying as well as the first day. I'm very happy with this plane, and it's one of my favorites in my fleet.

Nice Flight! That plane looks and sounds great in the air. Handled that grass no problem.

Great maiden! Hope mine mimics yours and not some of my previous ones ;)

Yeah, the blue box is kind of awkward. Mine's hooked up for now, but I'm weird with wires and that bird's nest is not sitting well - lol.

Looks like that blue box has more functionality (flashing LEDs?) if the empty spaces for electronics are populated, and the 2-pin jumpers aren't cut.

                • Nice! The CNHL 5000s and Liperior 3300s arrived today:

5000s - 755g (798-800g must be the shipping weight). This is 100g lighter than my two 2700s with parallel cable.
                  3300s - 505g (pretty much published weight of 495g).

Still waiting on the 4000s (slow boat from China). Hope there's no tariff surprise ...

What "C" did you buy? I'm charging a CNHL 5000mah, 65C, black label right now and it weighs 811g.
I used to fly my Vulcan with 5.0 Gens Ace that weighed 700g.

                    • 65C. One is slightly heavier than the other. They must have changed something ...

                      • As I said… “Power Hobby 5000mAh batteries. They weigh 545 to 575g”

manufacturers change cells all the time. It’s why I always say if you like a specific battery buy a bunch as they may be different the next time you order.

                        • Yep, those racing batteries sure are nice and lightweight, and expensive. Too pricey for me, at the moment.

                            • Was this a used plane or ESC? The stock one doesn't have that. Maybe they installed a afterburner?

                              • Brand new plane and ESC from MotionRC.
I saw a video for the new Ares 90mm and that has it too.
(The video is not in English so I don't know what was said about the JST.)

At about 10:40 in the video

                                • Maybe an update. Mine doesn't have it and I don't remember anyone else saying they have it. I have to think for an afterburner.

Most AB bulbs are 12v and connect via lipo balance port plug on an intermediate pin (#3 I think). That JST plug will deliver 6S voltage. Maybe in was installed to provide lipo voltage via telemetry.

                                    • Yes, some of the AB systems work on 12V. The FW one does. It has ground on the black wire at pin one and picks voltage off the third voltage wire which is the fourth pin on the battery connector.

The JST is to full battery voltage whatever that may be. If a 6S Vulcan it will be 25V full charged. I like the telemetry idea, it could be that too. The odd thing is the FW afterburner does not come with a JST to the Tailflame control board and if it did it would probably smoke on 25V, maybe it will in the future.

                                      • Okay, thanks guys. I'll just put a little tape over the end of that JST for now.

                                        • So this was my 4th EDF jet maiden, and the best one by FAR. The jet performed great - it tolerated my flying skills (or lack there of) very well ;)

Went with the Liperior 6S 3300 40C. 3.5 min flight. 3.87V per cell after landing. Must have gotten the CG and pushrods right; it didn't need any trim (that I could tell).
Had rates set at 60/80/100 all with 35% expo. Took off with 60, later turned on the gyro (A:30 E:30 R:30) and felt the need to try 80 - much better.
The jet seemed pretty forgiving - I think I banked too sharp at least a couple of times, but with power so no stalls.
Very pleasantly surprised at how smooth and well behaved it flew.
