Is there an update on when the 64mm F14 V2 wings will be available in the EU? Thank you for any info -
I have the V1 of this plane and having flown it, it doesn't appear to me as being "UNstable", so I wouldn't know if the new wings would make it "more stable". Having said that, I will get the new wings for my V1 before spring arrives. Will know then if it's any better.
Apparently, the Freewing APP is available at the Google Play Store.Leave a comment:

I've had the F14 V1 for two years and haven't flown it yet.
Is the V2 model more stable than the V1?
Do you know if there's an Android app?
Thanks.Leave a comment:

F-14 158984 (this VF-1 Wolfpack one)) was an F-14A. Here is a photo of the real thing:
This Wolf Pack Tomcat was photographed at its home base, NAS Miramar, in August 1976. Like its sister squadron, VF-2, VF-1 was part of Carrier Air Wing 14 (CVW-14) which was assigned to the USS Enterprise (CVN-65). The squadron was established on 14 October 1972 and disestablished on 01 October 1993.
The stock nozzles on this model are not correct for the F-14A (as you can see in the photo). They are not even close.
I have put some 3DP nozzles correct for the F-14A up on Thingiverse, that fit this model and have a properly sized outlet.
Here is a (more or less) correct nozzle for the twin 64mm Freewing F-14A. (Slight deviation from scale was needed to get the exit area correct for the fan size.)Print light. The file "Nozzle" is simply to replace the entire stock nozzle(foam and plastic skin). Cut off the existing nozzle and glue this in its place.IF you can peel off the plastic skin without damaging the foam underneath, use the guide to trim the foam stub to length, and mount the "noz c file" over the stub. This makes it slightly lighter and a bit easier to align. It is necessary to trim the stub to accommodate the different shape of the F-14A nozzle. The petals are very thin and some slicers may not slice them well. The "A" nozzle is a bit more robust than the noz_c

Yes, kallend, I know all this stuff about 20 channels. My point to Tcwoodie was that if he didn't use a RX with enough physical ports, he can't do what he wants to do. That is, gyro mode and reverse (with these ESCs) require to be plugged into a physical port, thus, he needs a 9 to 10 channel RX. If he uses only an 8-ch RX, there is no ch-9 port to plug into no matter how many of those upper channels the TX and RX talks to or listens to. That's why I finally answered his question by suggesting the Lemon 10-ch or Spektrum 10-ch, in order to have the physical port to plug into.
OK, that's it for this. We know what happened last time we saw the truth in different ways. I took a vacation from here for quite a long time. And we know what happens when you get "weird" about your truth. You were forced to take a long vacation. I think it's just time to put each other on "IGNORE". We will never see eye to eye on anything. The main difference is, you're rude and obnoxious about it. You don't come to someone's aid. You wait for someone else to come to their aid first, so you can jump in to say how wrong they are. Enough is enough and you're simply way too much. Goodbye!Leave a comment:

20 if the NX8 has been updated or came as a plus?
Using the stock gyro a 9ch receiver is needed for all the functions, basic 6, wing sweep, reverse and gyro.Leave a comment:

The Spektrum SMART receivers listen to all 20 channels an NX8 can transmit. They may not have servo ports for all those channels, but they can use information sent on those channels for internal use such as gyro mode and gain controls. If you use an AVIAN ESC it can use information on channel 9 for reverse thrust without needing 9 ports, since it gets that information from the SRXL2 signal on port 1.

Aside from what I said in post #176, you would need a 9 or 10 channel receiver. Only then would you have the port to plug that gyro mode lead or reverse lead into. Or, as I said before, if you are using only an 8-ch RX, you must eliminate one or the other (gyro mode or reverse).
Sorry, I keep not answering your question. I use a Lemon 10-ch with satellite, with the gyro NOT activated and keep the stock gyro. You can also use a Spektrum 10-ch RX, again don’t activate the gyro if it has one and go with the stock one. Your NX8 will work either of these.Leave a comment:

I believe it is TRUE, because my statement had a caveat ----- (please read what I put a * in front of) That caveat being that he MUST also use a Spektrum smart RX. If he used a Spektrum compatible RX like, as an eg., a Lemon RX, those remaining 20 channels do nothing. Additionally, if he does NOT have Spektrum smart ESCs, those ESCs won't understand what the RX is trying to tell them, no matter how many of those extra channels are used. A non-Spektrum smart ESC will still need to be hardwired into an unused port.
Not true. The NX8 can send up to 20 channels if it has been updated to firmware V4.00 or later (2024-May-08). You run out of switches and knobs before you run out of channels.

It shouldn't matter what RX you use so long as it has enough channels to do what you want. Since you only have an NX8, you are restricted to 8 channels*. You'll have to decide what you can do without - reverse or gyro mode. If your RX has a built in gyro, you need to choose whether you want the RX's gyro or the stock Freewing gyro. Whichever one you don't want, go into the programming and set all the gains to ZERO. Personally, I would prefer to keep the stock gyro as it's already programmed to fly the plane as it was meant to.
* If you really want to do everything you can do with this plane, you can do so by going with Spektrum smart RX, Spektrum smart ESCs. Then things get a bit more complicated. Are you good with Spektrum stuff and a bit more of "complicated"?Leave a comment:

So I want to use my nx8 so what reciver are you using with there gyro, or pulling it and going with a spektrum receiver.Leave a comment:

How about a nice 80mm Hawker Hunter, then? The mold prices on the 80mm are astronomical. Trust me, it's not like Freewing doesn't want to release an updated 80mm version. Personally, as much as I would want a 80mm with all these upgrades and latest tech, I am happy they are at least offering something that still gives you similar presence with a less-taxing wing load and more aerodynamic wing. I want one!Leave a comment:
