      • Big shout out to Chris Wolfe, the RC Geek, for 3D printing some MER's for the Mk82's I am putting on my A-4. I modelled this plane back in the early 80's (BVM, ducted fan) but never completed the load out for it. Now I am getting to complete it with the Freewing A-4. He had to do some slight tweaking for the JHH 1/10th bombs to fit but they turned out exactly how I was hoping they would.

Wow Spectacular! I am currently doing the the Diamond Back livery. I am very interested in that centerline tank. Did you modify the one of the large wing tanks that comes with the Freewing A4?

                    Now I want 3D printer! :-)

                    • And just as a side note I replaced my elevator servo in the new A-4, Probably unnecessary but I lost my lsat A-4 due to elevator servo, My fault as I bypassed the "Captain Mike" Servo test!

Yes. I cut the back off of one and the nose of the other and glued them together. It is close enough for what I am trying to do.

                            • Just building my Freewing A4 from Motion RC left flap servo arm was way off. (Not aligned with other servo) Had to break glue loose and pull servo out to align arm. What glue/adhesive does Freewing use to glue in servos? Looks like white silicon, but I know some glues can attack epo foam. Recommendations? Thanks for the assistance!! Tom

                              • Silicone will work. Can also use Foam Tac. EPO is pretty resistant to many of the solvents typically used in adhesives I believe.

                                • I maidened my a4 today. It was kind of a scary flight, I’m not sure if I got the cg right. She was very rocky and needed a lot of up elevator. I did the tail hook mod, could that have added much weight? I put the battery all the way forward. I got her down in one piece. She almost stalled on the landing. It was a windy day also. Does she not like the wind ? On the second flight I used the old stile shorter battery. Think I got the cg right. But she was still very wobbely. And I still fill like she wasn’t flying quite right. How is this plane normally. Defiantly nothing like my avanti !

                                        • The payload release units are just screwed in and therefore easily replaceable. They seem to be pretty nice. And they mount very close to the CG. The area where they mount is lined with 1/16 balsa (not shown). The screw mounts are 1/8" ply. I hogged out a small channel under the pcb in order to get the cable outside. A simple y connects the two units to the receiver.
The payload release is programmable via a small pushbutton and led setup. You can daisy-chain other units and program the order of release.
So far the only testing I've been able to do has been captive carry on the driveway.
I'm gonna test fly this mod as soon as the rain quits here. If successful, then the little scoot is going in for a complete tear down, rebuild, and re-paint. She has acquired a bit of battle damage over the past six months.
A little putty, some paint, and a fresh set of TW-1 decals are in order to celebrate 100 missions which will be coming up soon.
