    i have the same problem too , only with this plane from all my fleet. I found that there is a big free play in the front wheel system and when i fully open the throttle for take off the pressure on the front wheel make it to move wherever it wants . I replaced the pins in the landing gear with bolts& safety nuts and i printed and glue a Front Gear Brace Support . I also keep some up elevator on rotating to lessen the pressure on the front wheel. I am still not completely satisfied but it works 80% of the times. In landings it is o.k.

    I got a flight with a Bae Hawk on day one of the National Model Aviation day events in both Los Cruces NM and El Paso TX. I thought you guys would want to see it. (I hope) And yes I now know I got the name wrong. Lol and I don't think I got the pilots name. Sorry, I'm working on it. But please enjoy.

    Good afternoon, I recently picked up a 70mm BAE Hawk and am trying to bind with a Spektrum AR631 reciever, and NX8 TX. Aside from most servos being reversed, I cannot get the plane to arm. It just beeps quickly. I tried reversing the throttle, it didnt beep fast but continually went through a series of short and long beeps, cant get this figured out for the life of me.

    I need to replace main retract gear on my Hawk. On Motion RC it shows Type D replacement that has no pin and it shows the replacement gear strut with a pin. My retract has a non-removable pin in it and my gear strut goes over this pin. Why is mine different and what do I have to do, buy new retract and strut???

    Maiden flight for mine today. Pre-flight I Installed Dubro low bounce tires. 1.75 inch on the front and 2 inch for mains. For nose wheel you will have to drill the wheel hub to accommodate the 4mm axle. Mains are 1:1 swap. Full flaps and a touch of throttle - 2 sweet landings with no bounce.

    I drilled out the aluminium gear carriers on the 3mm main pin type units on the 2 main wings on my old wire type gear model and made up oleos to accept 4.1mm dia pins and used them but check to see if there is enough meat left in the oleos to take it as I used my own aftermarket units at the time. Also consider the possibility of using Freewing Electronic retract with 4.1mm shaft Type D ( nose gear unit ) item No ET8104 and drill out the original 3mm unit steering arm alloy and nose leg oleo to suit the 4.1mm dia pin that comes with the unit. Then add nose gear brace.
    But for the cheapest option If you don`t want to prat about too much then just try using stainless steel pins ( original unit diameter )but cut a flat into them to grip the grubscrews.

    I found that if I use a little power, come in shallow but holding the nose high and landing on the mains stops any bounce. I have my flaps come down to nearly 90 degrees at which point they are mainly braking and not really giving much lift. I've also found extra elevator travel means I don't run out of elevator authority on flare as I've found when the airspeed gets low you'll lose the ability to hold the nose up and she will bounce onto the nose gear and then bunny hop her way down the runway.

    A side note, a nose gear support definitely helps avoid bending rhe nose gear on the Hawk, and takes out the wobbly play it seems to have when extended..

    I fly off grass and found softer springs both mains and nose helps ( definitely the nose ) take out any bounce on landing if you drop a little hard so I think the same logic should apply. See 3.0 min on attached video.

    Maybe less flap travel. But it's hard saying withoit seeing the landing. But that was my issue for a little while andI decreased the flap angle.. The Hawk does need a pinch of power with landing.

    Since mine is new I have the “upgraded” landing gear. But I’ve had it bounce (pogo) on me a couple more times and it’s starting to annoy me. Has anyone found a fix for this on hard runways? Maybe the springs are too stiff, too weak, or the deck angle on the ground can be changed with shims? Another option could be to separate the aileron servos, run them direct the th receiver (without a Y) and use a spoileron mix with landing flaps to help kill lift. Maybe use less or more flap travel? Hmmm

    Holy smokes! I maidened mine this morning, a few clicks of trim and I’m in heaven. What a wonderful flying plane! I have had a lot of FW EDF’s and this one, even as small as it is, is really special. Very acrobatic. A lot of power with the new fare fan. 4000 mAh pack for me. CG as specified. In Landing don’t hold it off with a ton of elevator, just set a few degrees nose high landing altitude and let it settle, smooth.

    Husafreak What fan are you using? The Hawk is so fun. You're correct, looks so good flying the pattern and settles in nicely. I have the RAF version as well. It is one of the best valued edf's I think!
