Not surprising, these high wing civilians birds are very forgiving. Good to know, thanks! Cool paint job!

Between my lunch break and after work I just finished putting her together. I can just tell she's going to be a *****cat. Big but light. Never met a Cessna with flaps I didn't like.

Build was a bit more involved than I expected to be honest. For a PNP I don't expect nor want to have to put the motor on. Not a big deal but I was surprised it wasn't already installed and connected to the ESC as almost all EPO PNP models are these days. The other bummer was the exclusive use of hex screws. I do have a hex wrench but it's one of those folding universals so to use it like a traditional straight-in screwdriver is problematic. I had an old set of hex screwdrivers but they didn't fit anything. And my final mild complaint was the elevator and rudder leads were not very long so to get them plugged into their ports on my receiver was definitely more of a PITA than I was hoping for. Both leads need to be about 4 inches longer.

The rest of the build was easy. I really love the wing connection design. The struts being held by those pins and the hand-turning wing bolts will make taking the wings off and putting them on a breeze. Wow those stock wheels are noisy. Not sure why they didn't go with nice low-bounce rubber wheels. Oh well, easy upgrade. Taxi'd out front...Wow she turns on a dime! Impressive tight radius for a model this size. I keep looking out the window for a patch of dry weather. If it clears up a bit I may take it to the school this evening for the maiden. I won't rush it though. We have some sunny days coming up.

Can't wait to take her to the skies!

Awesome... Has anyone put floats on theirs? I fully plan to get a set somewhere down the road. These ponds by my house demand exploration! :)

Maidened on my lunch break today. Nice little break in the rain. Gentle Giant indeed! Some down trim needed to compensate for my camera on the H stab but otherwise it was pretty much hands off. Had to negotiate some pretty gnarly crosswinds on the landing but overall she handled like a champ.

Need to tweak the elevator mix for flaps (ballooned), add some low bounce (see: low noise) straight tread tires, a new paint scheme and some other little tweaks but other than that this will be a fun low-stress model to enjoy for a long time.

Yeah it's not bad if you have the open space void of obstructions. But the only place near me I can fly it is in an amphitheater parking lot which is huge but it's littered with light poles, tall trees for really high approaches, buildings, highway...Not ideal to say the least.

Ran up to the school after work to see if I could sneak in a flight before the after school sports activities start up. The day started out beautiful (blue skies and puffy clouds with no wind) and of course we can't have too much of that in April here in the Pacific Northwest so the clouds rolled in along with the wind. But this bird could care less. Nice high approach over tall trees with full flaps complete with a satisfying greaser!

Nice flight Aros! This has proven to be a wonderful plane. You are going to love it just as the rest of us have! Hopefully going to hit the water tomorrow with mine, dressed up the float mounting hardware (used polystyrene plastic tubing cut lengthwise and slid over the hardware and worked great to hide the servo wire), and installed a auxiliary fin that I made removable with five screws. Starting to look like a seaplane now!

Thanks MichiganJarrad! I responded to your post in the RCG thread. Man that is a beautiful job you did with the seaplane conversion! I love that fin and the tubing. When the time comes I will have to bend your ear to find out exactly how you did those mods. The repaint may be as soon as a couple more weeks away. I get antsy when I have a livery in mind, lol.

Now if I can just get my HSD F-16 to land like this bird I would be in RC Heaven! LOL

Thank you! I would love to take you up on the pics when the time comes. I know for sure I will eventually turn her into a seaplane. Your mods are a great touch for added detail.

The F-16 is a lot of fun. The Freewing 70mm V2 is by far the easiest to fly. Low wing load and floaty. The 90mm is definitely more advanced with the higher wing load. The HSD even more so with even higher wing load, but over all they are all fun jets to fly IF you have the open space for them.
