That's awesome. Lower R&D time = better outcome of the product and lower price for us in a small way.

The design is moving fast because TD has partnered with DKLM and is using a number of already "worked up parts" from the OKMO version DKLM has had available for a few years now.Originally posted by SoCalBobS View Post

Awesome! I can give up on the 3d one I've been working on. That was a pain.

This 6 years old thread at the UK RC Tank Warfare site has some interesting pictures of the 21st Century M5 Stuart RC tank.
You can see how it compares to the 1/16 Sherman in size.

I've always had a soft spot for the Stuart as it was what got me back into tanking in the early 2000's. I bought an M5 Stuart in 1/6th scale and in my search for ways to detail the tank, I found the Fort Snelling Military Museum in Minneapolis, MN. I volunteered there restoring real tanks and got to drive a bunch of different vehicles to include a Sherman. They had a beautifully restored M5 called "UGO" that has now been relocated to the east coast. I would be down to own one of these even though I no longer own the 1/6th scale version. I don't like the fact that they are putting that chevron on the tracks as there were only two track versions of the M5 that I know of and neither had a chevron like that. One was an all metal track (T36E6) and the other was a rubber padded track (T16E1) with smooth pads. My guess is that they are making the tracks with a chevron because they are making a Chaffee tank after that as it has a chevron track (T85E1).

still have one, wish they could all be 1/6th!Originally posted by keilau View PostThe M5 Stuart is one of the smaller tank in early WW2. It had its own yahoo group.
In 1/16 scale, it will be a cute, tiny RC tank.

I had a talk with the gentleman in the tank department from MotionRC. He stated that what I heard about MotionRC as a US distributor for Tongde was not correct. MotionRC will not sell any Tongde tanks at this time or in the near future. MotionRC has not committed yet.

If this is true 😉 I think all of us here on HS had something to do with Motion becoming the US distributor. We do have a bunch of threads running on the TD tanks. In fact HS is the go to place I hear for "forum threads" concerning TD tanks.Originally posted by SoCalBobS View PostTongde's Facebook page says Motion RC is now their US distributor. If it is true😉 let us all hope Motion is only bring in the "metal" versions of the TD tanks because the all plastic version are a bit lacking reliability.

I hope they can too because even if the details aren't great, there is the Classy Hobby version of the Stuart that could be used to improve the detail level of the CB Stuart.

I hope he can do this.
that sand he is driving in is probably the hardest terrain that thing would see. I hope this comes to pass.

Two tidbits:
Nova Hobby (Canada) shows a selection of TD tanks, including the Centurion @ $199, 2 in stock as of 11/14.
Coolbank has a video on Facebook showing their M5A1 Stuart driving around. Apparently he's still developing it. Here's a screen capture:
(I'm not affiliated with CB, or any other manufacturer for that matter. I just like to share with my non-FB friends.)
