Sorry, I couldn't find where anyone talked about converting their tank to a M3 like the Haunted Tank of the comics or permanently increasing sound effects and changing speed. Also quieting down the gear noise. The conversion to M3 might not be exact but relatively close. I am most interested in conversion to M3

I converted my M6 Scott (came chassis, a bunch of cosmetic differences, more turret space) to I/R battling with a Heng Long board. Space inside is EXTREMELY tight, much of it taken up with mechanics and electronics. An M3 would be fun, but it would take really a lot of work to make things fit and function. Compromises would have to be made.

Well I finally got my M5, big thanks to a mate who didn't want it.Was doing some research and found a M5 in the Aussie armour museum that had a bit of a heart transplant, original engines were getting tired and because it's a regular runner they came up with a quick fix,twin 350ci small blocks, went from 200 odd hp to 660hp.Hot rod Stuart.So now when someone says my tanks too fast I can look em in the eye and tell em "nah mate, it's modelled after the Aussie armour tank

Okay,mass confusion with the Stuart, will not start after a bit of a break, got a fresh battery, the transmitter was flashing red and beeping, thought it was flat trans batteries, replaced those but it's still flashing red and beeping.Any ideas?

Another someone said that to open up the tank one had to remove the tracks. There will be four screws hidden there, plus the two visible under the rear deck. Haven't tested it, though! Here are some shots of the interior, filched from ColemanCollector on RCTW:

SoCalBobS, Mr Tanks A Lot on Youtube has a video of opening up the Cool Banks Mr. He found the hidden screws, and he adjusted the elevation servo, and he also removed 1 track link because as we all know, the tracks are loose!!!

I know a trick for making leather straps and rifle slings that you might find handy. Nowadays you can get duct tape in just about any color you want, so I picked up a roll of brown and cut a strip of it and then folded it over so the two sticky sides are stuck together. Then with a good sharp blade and a metal straight edge I cut strips about 1/16 of an inch wide. They make great straps and slings.

Here's the video from Mr Tank A Lots Youtube channel. He somewhat takes the Coolbank M5 apart. It's almost a 42 minute long video. At 23:46 minutes into the video, he takes it apart.

I replaced the center suspension philips head screw with an M3 x12mm bolt, but the one that came out was an M3 x 10mm. I didn't have a 10mm bolt on hand, but the 12mm fits fine.

Others may have wondered this like me so I'll post my results. YES...the Classy Hobby upper will fit with very minimal fitting and it is better detailed. As shown I have done zero fitting and it fits pretty good. It seems the center section of the chassis on the Coolbank upper uses ball bearings for the turret rotation. It is removable and could be transplanted over to the Classy Hobby upper.

It looks great, Tank Me, but after all the work I did to my 1/6 scale 21st Centaury M5 Stuart, I'm not going crazy with the 1/16 scale M5!!!

I will eventually tackle the M5 and the M8. They haven't languished on the shelf of shame long enough yet. I learned years ago that I need to buy stuff when it's on the market as sometimes kits go out of production and never return. Then the prices spike. It's the exact reason I have so many projects now and I've vowed this year to finish the oldest ones first.

That's the best way to get things finished. None of us are getting younger. I look at things I haven't finished, and sometimes I honestly doubt they'll get finished. The main thing is to have fun and be creative in the process.

The M8 was an easy conversion to a Heng Long 7.1 battler. Install new or replace the connectors to fit. IR in the barrel, IR receiver on the MG tub.

The M5 will be harder in one respect. The turret is more confined, and the IR emitter location will be problematical. I put the IR receiver on the left hatch. Picture later.
