I have added Rich Johnson's Recoilless Rifle (M40 I believe) to my M113. I have a spare IR bulb from another Tongde project that I will install in the barrel. TD's IR bulbs are 3mm in diameter, which fits in the barrel. The barrel comes with a 3mm brass tube, so wires will fit through it and out a small hole the RJ has incorporated in the M40 print. Traverse will be accomplished by a servo linkage activated by the slider on Heng Long's v.7.1 transmitter. The servo plugs into the CH5 port on the HL 7.1 board.

The TD IR isn't as powerful as the aftermarket 6mm bulbs we use in our tanks, but is stronger than the stock HL IR bulbs. The effect of this is that the M113 will have to get closer to get a hit on a tank, making it vulnerable until it does, which can reflect it's relative weakness vs a MBT.

I also added a photo of a real M113 that shows the dusty condition they often were in, to justify my weathering.

The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

I found some "M113 Tank Crew" 3D print figure files online at "MyMiniFactory". I had JVM3DConcepts print them out for me. Here are the first two (of six, still painting).

A couple more. Two to go. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who knows how these figures are generated. 3d laser scanning, or? Many details are similar, like the flak jackets, shoes and limbs, but they are in different poses. The proportions are accurate allowing for leg and arm bending, etc. It's not the same as the traditional physical sculpting. Opinions?

Love the look of the figures, Sounds like my next project! I am really liking My M113, fully compatible with my other Heng Long tanks in battle. Great spot for the IR receiver. Still working on weathering. Will have pics soon.

Very nice. You need to post the link where you got the figures.

I still have a few of each M113 in stock too.

Finished my M113 . Photos taken at our RC flying field, a work in progress! Hardest part was finding a gunner that fit. Modified his arms to reach the gun. Very nice tank! Smoke tank was broken when I received it but was an easy fix Click image for larger version

Some new products to customize the Tongde M113 into other tactical offensive battlefield AFVs.
Up first the M901 kit. A dual TOW middle launcher which gives an IR battle capable 113 the advantage of height over its IR Receiver and ability to hide behind cover and fire at tanks. Click image for larger version

Up next is my new ADAT turret for the M113. That is an Air Defense Anti Tank styled closely after the product tested by the US Army and purchased by several foreign nations. It fired laser guided missiles similar to Stingers.

Nice build 👌🏻 Did you disassemble the M113 for painting? What color did you use?

Yes, i disassembled it. I used gun bluing on the metal tracks. Used rattle can green camouflage from Rust-oleum . Hardest was to paint the face on the gunner . I also dab a little green over the decals to simulate fading and chipping using a sponge .
