    Hi James & Wesley,

Here's a compilation vid which might be cool for the year's end big MRC live show.

It has all the rocket starts with Freewing Mig21s that my friend Hans-Gerd and I did in 2023, at various meetings in Europe.

When the organisers see us coming we usually get some cool AC/DC or Metallica songs through the speakers

    paulrkytek,

Thanks for the tip on removing the covering from the NEXA line of balsa models.

I figured it could be removed with some finesse.

    Gooooood-looookin' model.

    Nicely done, Sir.

Motion r.c. are now supplying the NEXA Bell P39 Airacobra 1580mm balsa kit. I have been flying the VQ models version for a couple of years but managed to lose orientation on a flight back at the end of August resulting in a spectacular spin and full nose hit into the long grass. The engine cowl was shattered, body split, wings broken into 2 , wing tips destroyed, tail broken off etc. It took 2 of us to retrieve most of the bits from the field and I took it home and left the pieces in the garage with the aim of stripping out the useful bits and re-using them in my VQ models Yak 9 kit that I have had waiting in the loft since before Covid. About 3 weeks ago I dug out the bits and while stripping out the servos, retracts etc I decided to rebuild the model but 1400mm wingspan version with re modelled balsa wingtips, a balsa nose and a canopy made from a spare bit of polystyrene coving I had left over. The model is based on the yellow and black 1946 Cobra 2 racer. It is now complete, just needs servo and controls setup and a good day for a re-maiden. Should anyone be insane enough to re-cover a NEXA model note that the covering sticks like the proverbial and you will rip off shreds of balsa in the process unless you heat up the covering as you remove it .

This is my basic equipment setup :-

VQ airacobra 1400mm ws.( reduced from 1580mm) 2600 to 2700g. WA 34.5dm2 wl /71.5 to 78gms/dm2. cg 80mm back from le. SK3 4240 740kv motor 870wmax 50amp max, 80amp Hobywing esc with 12x8 jxf prop, Turnigy 3000mah 5s pack, TSS11 dmg on tail and nose, Corona DS939 DMG flaps & Aileron. 5 mins flight time. Full throttle bench test 48a 900w at 20.3v Flysky FSi6x 10 ch tx with iA10B rx. Hobby Eagle A3 gyro 3 position switch. gyro on, gyro off, auto balance.
