Another option is to power the receiver from 2 ESCs (twin engine) or from an external BEC and ESC BEC. This requires soldering 2 schottky diodes into a Y-harness (bus tie circuit). I did this on my A330, and it gives power redundancy if an ESC were to burn out, the other one will still power the receiver.

Sorry for your loss, man. There is a simple way to protect against BEC failures causing crashes like yours. This is what I do in my ME-262... I bought a small 4.8v NiMh battery pack (200 mah or so) and connected it in parallel with the BEC output. Because the BEC outputs 5 volt and the battery is 4.8 volts their is no effect on the BEC whatsoever. The BEC in fact will slowly charge the battery over time. However, if the BEC fails then the battery continues to provide power to the radio and servos allowing for a safe landing. It's basically foolproof...just connect the battery after the BEC is powered up and then disconnect the battery after the flight.

It is more difficult to print at least some of the 3DLabPrint planes in Cura isn't it? I have S3D as well and I think it was a worthwhile investment of $150.

Yes cura is a great free option. I have simplify 3d, and it is good, but its not free to use. Quite expensive really.

The STL has to be processed by a "slicer" program. to create "g-code" for the printer.

The g-code is what tells the printer how t make the item.

Its sort of like the computer processing a PDF into something the inkjet printer can understand. But changing a PDF to the code the printer need is easier and done in background.

Find "Cura 4.1" Its one of the most popular slicer programs.

g-code is text. You can read it in any text editor. There are occasions where you might want to insert a couple of lines, such as doing a color change.

Also, look at "Makers Muse" videos on Youtube

Currently just purchased a 3D-printer and I've yet to figure out how to use it. I have found a model that I would love to print, which is a hub cap for a model airplane. I saved the under STL-format on the s-drive, but when I put the drive into the 3D printer I could not find the file. Any and all advice welcome.
3D printer purchased is the Ender 3D-printer

RCJD & RMBTX, Unfortunately, I have a similar box-o-parts and feeling a bit guilty about it. LOL Though I am currently printing ordinance (Daisy-Cutters, Suu 23, New Pylons and TERs) for the F-4. Best, LB

Here is where my F-86 project is at the moment. Parts are printed and sitting in a box ready to assemble. I have a fan for it but need all the rest of the electronics. Too many other projects at the moment.

Sorry to see the F-86 like that man, but glad you will be rebuilding! I am definitely surprised more isn’t destroyed after an impact on pavement. Everything aft of the hatch looks reusable.

I’ve been printing out some pilot figures recently for my 600 size UH-1N. Pretty happy with how they turned out after a bit of paint work.

The fuselage took the hit fairly well against a paved parking lot. Much better than i would have guessed it would.

I think that I spent more than a week printing weapons for it before it even showed up :-) Now trying to get 'er done before our Jet rally here next weekend.
SD64, Well, with all the VIR Mods and Fuse Mods, you're going to be very busy this weekend. LOL I hope your Jet Rally is a big hit. Best, LB

    Freewing_F-4_VIR_Mods_STL_Files.zip

Hey Y'all, There is the most interest in these items I modded for the Freewing F-4. Included are the VIR Fixed Plates L&R, Upper and Lower Vents, and a mesh-like simulation of the perforations in the VIR. Pictures are included and a capture of the Slic3r view. I posted to the F-4 3DP forum as well. Any questions PM me and I will post some other parts soon. :)Best, LB
