Interesting the boards aileron slots both in and out are marked flaps. The cable is labeled ailerons.

In order to get the flaps/flaperons do you leave one aileron in the control board or do they both need to go in the reciever?Leave a comment:

Agree with all of that! I still have my V1 and fly it quite often, especially after converting it to 8S earlier this year. A huge difference from 6S. Flies on a SMC 8S HiV 5900, weighing 900gr giving me almost 5 minutes of flight time. So much better than on 6S, especially being on grass (the kind you mow, not blow-although that might help me relax). 🤯The V1 was underpowered based on most posts in different threads. The landing gear also needed beefing up. Basically what was improved were considered shortfalls of the V1. Considering when the jet came out it was great for its time, only after all the improvements in EDF did the shortfalls become more noticeable.
I'll eventually get the V2, always loved the F16, but will absolutely get it in 8S. And the Spektrum RX upgrade to "plus" has made a huge difference. Also turned my F18's from an adventure in flying to incredibly rock solid and a breeze to land perfectly every time (something I've never been able to do before).

I don't disagree. I regret being simplistic in my statement. I fully expect this model to come in at a higher speed and perhaps have a higher stall speed. You're correct, more power isn't an end all solution to a high wing-loaded model. But I stand by my statement...It does help. It most certainly does not hurt.The V2 has a smaller wing span and is heavier by the published numbers. That means the V2 will probably land faster than the V1 and probably have a higher stall speed.
More power may help overcome some issues caused by higher loading but I expect that higher power will really cause more crashes because more power really has a tendency to get you in trouble when you are stalling. Having airbrakes and reverse thrust will be a bigger plus landing than overall thrust for this plane.
All my opinion of course. And yes, I ordered one first thing yesterday.Leave a comment:

Noted and agreed. I bought mine almost 10 years ago and as I’ve said in multiple threads it was under powered and had a high wing loading. Even upgrading to the inrunner available then batteries were heavy and battery space limited. I fly off pavement and never had a issue with the gear on the V1. The F-104 had the same gear and I did break the plastic mounting on it (still have that gear set in a drawer). The V2 looks to have the same plastic mount.

I guess the F-16 V2 has enough power to start from gras, maybe even longer gras. I guess the height from the front gear door will be enough for taking off from gras.
But what about landing on gras? Will the plane emmediately drop on the nose due to the resistance of gras after touch down? I had these problems with the 70mm F-16 V2. That is the only concern that keeps me from ordering.Leave a comment:

The V1 with a modern 6S fan and good batteries flies very well and I expect my V2 8S to do the same. Should be faster than my other 90mm FW EDFs except the Zeus and maybe my JetFan powered F/A18C. The Eurofighter and J-10 as deltas have pretty high drag. Probably close to the F-22. My F-4 even with a 8S JetFan is not super fast.Leave a comment:

When you look at this it doesnt seem that much speed wise, but then again its not really in perspective because its not in real life. i think motionrc would not just say random stuff like it is way faster in 6s.

Absolutely. Plus "Wes said"... But did he really fly them together or was it a generalized statement "I blew his doors off!", I did not in fact blow his doors off but I was faster...
Add to this generalized statement that he's not saying what version of V1 or of V2 or any other specifics. Even if you actually believe the half throttle statement.
Or I can take your saying "Wes said" as fact and be disappointed and want my money back when my V2 isn't as fast at half throttle as the V1 on 8S at my field...

If you have two planes with the same thrust and wing (both don't have flaps for example) and one has a significantly heavier wing loading what is the effect you will see on how it flies? Mostly landing speed. Maybe a bit in how it turns at speed and it may have a slightly lower top speed due to drag.
Add more power to the one with heavier loading. Is the landing speed now better? No. Is the turning speed better, well it may be faster but it will have the same high speed stall. But yes, top speed will get better but you still do have a draggier airframe so if you had put that higher power fan in the lighter loaded airframe you'd be even faster.
What were the big issues with V1? Heavy wing loading and not enough room for good batteries or 8S (batteries then were a bit bigger and heavier than what I fly now). The V1 first had a low power out runner. Subbing in a newer 6S in runner has helped those that still have a V1 but back then my choice was going to 8S and JetFan EDFs. The V1 didn't have room for decent 8S and balance was very difficult if you could find batteries. I have to say at this point almost every FW 90mm 8S still is difficult to get balance on, proper balance, not where it says in the book .

You can't draw any conclusion about wing loading from that information (assuming it's even correct).
What it tells me is that the stock V1 power unit is not as good as the V2's.

I’ve flown high wing loaded jets with awful power systems and the results were predictable. I’ve also flown high wing loaded jets with a terrific powerful setup and it flew like it was light.
You may be technically correct in your comment but please don’t tell me power/thrust doesn’t play into the equation. All due respect of course.
