  • Working on the newest 70 F16, spring cheaters installed waiting on a new canopy and horizontal stabs. Old ones have a few spots gone this far might as well finish things right

      • Hey, my V2 manual that shipped with my V3 70 mm F16 has a sticker on the full-elevator horizontal tail install position of 18.5mm from the top of the fuse edge as neutral or center position...That can't be right...right?

You will need to remove the ESC wood bracket and mount the ESC vertical I made some foam supports that have it help in really nice secure. I used a set from the J-10 where I got my idea from
I did the same mod as a extra, and it does make the jet fly better. Can recommand this. I did use the eurofighter cheaters the filment wansnt that good because of the curve but i made it work.

                • So i was thinking about doing the mods that Jon did on his YT channal.
Flaperons and ailevons. I was looking at the control board but it has for some reason 2 leads going to the rudder, so this would lead me to think its for the nose wheel, but gear also has 3 leads. Can anyone explain?

I will put the ailerons on seperate channel and the elevators on a seperate channel, the rest will remain in the control board.

I only run tailerons so yes you will need 2 channels for ailerons ( flaperons ) which I don’t feel is needed your gonna alpha it in anyways and it floats very well. Tailerons again 2 separate channels which changes the flight characteristics to me in a very positive way. On your rudders yes one is for the rear rudder the other for the landing gear steering servo which you can use another channel if your running a Spekrum AR+ receiver for a nose wheel gyro which I personally like. Makes tip overs much harder to do which the F16 does pretty easy with narrow landing gear. One mod I have done on both of mine are to replace the front 3.1mm pin retract to a 4.1 ( I used a Mirage retract and knuckle then drilled the lower strut to accept a 4.1mm pin ) if your on grass you’ll understand why I’m suggesting this on payment most likely at some point you will as well. Either way good luck hope all works out well for ya

                      • Thanks for the tips, i did use a bigger pin for the gear because the old one kent on bending after a few landings. So that one i fan check off the list. 👍 i also installed soft rubber wheels

                        • I did the same on the mains DuBros LB and added the spring cheater vents wow what a difference in rotation time. If I was to do another I’d get the ones for the 90 F16 mine are from the J10 that I reshaped

                          • Hello Friends,

I setup my flaperon + elevator for my F16 70mm

                            Does these numbers make sense:

                            FLAP
                            take off -33% , -3% elevator
                            landing -67%^, -5% elevator

Looks good to me, I like more delay time on my flaps but that’s a personal choice. The elevator is kinda the unknown for landing flaps I have some that need lift some that need none or even some down help. Just make sure on your landing flaps to do a pass or 2 higher up so you can see what happens when landing flaperons are engaged. Looks good 👍 great job there

                              • I decided to rip the gear out of mine and after hand tossing it for the first time my thought was “What took me so long??”

Even with the 6S 4000mAh it was still incredibly light. Removing the thin plastic gear housing in the main gear section created easy access to the central foam “bar” running central along the bottom middle section of the fuse creating an easy grip to hand toss.

I aimed her nose up about 20 degrees, lit the fires to full throttle and she left my hand without a wobble. Flew like a dream! Closer to 1:1 thrust/weight for sure. What a difference!

If you fly at a grass field you might want to consider!

Is there a new thread, or will there be for the V.3 high performance version that is out?
