  • Hey, wicked vids cheers. Big Grats boys on the maidens. (Gotta say, that's my kinda warbird flying - nice one both of you). Vertical looks good for the size bird and nice clean straight lines no matter where you are pushing it. Fair bit up elevator it looks for inverted Tony? Looked a little high alpha on the slower pass? I was sold already when I saw it, but... I'm sold. :)

Tony I forgive ya that landing mate just getting back on the sticks n all... ;) great landing Brent and awesome flying fellas cheers. :)

Lol...Don't tell her that! She's a beauty (the plane I mean)

So man...when you coming to the States? I'll have a P-38 and a Bluenoser you can fly...

            • Nice flying fellas! Hope to see you guys in April. If I'm lucky, I'll have one as well! I keep telling myself the F-15 will be my next purchase, but I'm on a warbird kick lately!

              • Thanks Gents...you too Shortly....Shirty, whatever! ;)

As you can see, the Lightning handles the wringing well...and the crappy landing. ;) That's what makes the hobby fun..... rarely does each flight become routine, especially those first flights.

Looking forward to seeing you all enjoying your birds soon. :)

                • I thought it was a good landing especially the first in that model. What doesn't come across from the video is the shifting tailwind! I like to watch every moment of every flight when I'm out there, whether I'm flying or not. This hobby is so much better than TV in that regard. Never know what's going to happen up there in the wild air.

                  • Very true Alpha!

What I like about that landing is finding those little surprises in different wind conditions and flight configurations, especially if these lessons learned help others.

As you guys saw, tailwind-no flap landing requires power. As those three bladed props spool down, they become speed brakes...recommend carrying power to touchdown during your initial flights.

                    • Back to batteries....I see some are worried about using two batteries due to the consequences of a single battery failing, or a cell going bad upsetting the pair. I like the idea of 6000 mah between 2 batteries and understand the desire for the single 5000 mah battery. I was toying with the idea of paralleling two 4S 3000's and pretty much keep them together as a single battery so they are flown together, charged together, etc. So I would have four Deans connectors (two to the bats, two to the ESCs) with all "+" tied together and all "-" tied together. This would offer the best of both worlds also I could use Dean's on everything (since I'm currently on Deans for everything else, I'd like to remain standardized). Probably overthinking it, but until the plane arrives its something to ponder.

                      • Hi Tdevince, in the Description we do mention that pilots wanting to use a single 4s 5000 battery would need to source or solder up an adapter to go from the stock aircraft's two T-connectors to their battery's single connector. We recommend an EC5 connector on the single side due to amp draw. Beyond that we'll leave it to customers; I'm certain you'll find a solution which works best for you.

Paralleling two 4s 3000s and "pretty much keeping them together" is basically what I do. I have three pairs of batteries, numbered A1/A2, B1/B2, C1/C2, and each pair is never mixed with another. Each pair is charged as a pair, flown as a pair, balanced as a pair. I measure and record IR and other datapoints every 5-10 flights. Zero issues so far across many, many, many flights.

                        • Alpha,
Thanks, given your experience with the 2 3000's I really don't expect an issue. It's just a matter if I want to physically tie the two batteries together with a custom harness. Just gives me something to do while waiting for the planes to arrive. :)

                          • I use rubberbands.

Waiting shouldn't be too long, the container is on the water and we're hoping Customs doesn't add to the incurred delay getting out of Asia.

                            • Like Alpha said, I always pair my parallel or series batteries together for life. I want them to have the same balance and cycle life respective of each other. I too have yet to have any problems doing this.

                                • Well done guys, tks for the vid...those vids made me appreciate my paved runway even more. I heard in vid tailwind so I knew Toni was going to have his hands a bit full on a down wind landing. I think both landings were great and showed just what the models can handle and what to expect. Spring is not to far off here in the sw nc area, looking at mid to upper 60's this weekend...woohoo flying weather, if I ever get done moving :( .... DJ

                                  • great to see the such sweet performance from this model. i think i will opt for 2 pair of 4s 3000mah batteries for mine. Alpha, i think i like the camera! the Sony A6000 video looks great! no auto focus issues with using the zoom clear bright video nice steady hand =D.
i saw 20 robbins today and we are having temps in the mid 30s here in SO. MN. hopefully an early spring?

It sure looks like we'll have a full ramp at the April gathering...Outstanding!

Lol. :). Hopefully next year still, really just depends on the profit line this year, and if my businesses are at a stage I can take off for 8-9 months and just run it remotely via email etc. really won't know till towards the end of the year mate. But rest assured, by hook or by crook I'll be coming over within the next few years to fly with all you guys. (And see a few sights). Want to see some airshows, go to some of the big RC ones as well like joe nall etc. I was figuring I'd pack my radio and a few spare receivers, and just buy a few planes when I'm over there. Makes sense if I'm gonna stay over there a while and travel around. One thing I know for sure, I want to avoid winter over there lol. :)

Hey tony, I hope you know I was just stirring about the landing. Downwind no flaps and you could see the tail slide out a bit, you did well with the last second recovery. Just joking with ya mate. :)
