  • Gave my old T72 a makeover. Representing the final camouflage on East German vehicles in the last 18month before unification. Only about 5% of the fleet were painted in these colours. The first incarnation looked very similar to the NATO 3 colour pattern. However the the East Germans wanted a camouflage pattern that was able to be used all year. Fitted bearings to the plastic wheels, and fitted rubber tyres after sanding off the plastic ones. Installed a HL TK6.1 which I had in stock, which had been removed from my Challenger. Working head and tail lights. Hand operated dozer blaThe rear lights were from Christmas decorations. Cupola was revised, cannon smoke and flash installed, servo recoil and elevation. For a big tank there is not a lot of interior space.

        • Finishing up the "EZ8" 76mm turret from RichJohnson Models. Mostly a direct drop on to the HL M4 hull. I still have a little more weathering to do but it's almost done. I should have more photos and videos posted up soon on my Instagram @ Fsttanks. Feel free to have a look.

            • Thought I would try something a little different for one of my M60s. Went with a very rare mid 1970s US paint scheme. This camouflage was short lived and is hard to find quality color photographs of.

              • Looks cool. Is that the MASSTER camo pattern? I've been interested in painting something in that scheme.

It is a version of it but with a bit more yellowish tone of "tan".

                  • The East Germans have invaded Scotland. This is the second summers day we have had this year. The first was on a Wednesday. I think they are looking for the submarines out of Faslane.

                    • Maybe they came for the weather!
The more screws it takes to reassemble a tank, the more likely it is you left something out!

A Heng Long T-34 with a 3DP Model 1941 turret, square side gas tanks and a gun mounted spotlight. That last is a tribute to the "Tanks for Stalin" movie. The stock single side mounted headlight is replaced with twin lights in front. This was built as a battler, as are all my tanks. Liberties were taken regarding authencity; some stuff added, some stuff left out

                          • Love the early T-34s. Would prefer one to my 85 but I’ve always been told the turret is so cramped I’d have to get someone who knows what they are doing to get the recoil, elevation and apple base in one

                            • This one has servo operated elevation but no recoil. It could be done but would take more work than I was willing to devote. An IR receiver base is installed in the top hatch. I plug the IR receiver into it when I want to battle.

If it's been designed from the start to have a recoil/elevation, it's not that bad. It's the retrofitting a small recoil/elevation in the Trumpeter kit turrets that sucks.
