Hello! New here but and old modeler from way back. I recently purchased a HL Sherman and Tiger 1 for me and my grandson to play with, Dirtied his Sherman up a bit and he loves it. He's 6 but didn't take him long to figure it out. I'm currently weather up my all DAK Tiger and noticed some of you have spare tracks mounted on your tanks, Where are you getting the spare track links at?? I'd like to add some to the turret sides.

The spare tracks on the turret came already mounted as it is a Taigen and sold that way. But they are sold separately from different vendors. Unfortunately prices have jumped on these detail parts-

Also unfortunately they are out of stock here at Motion as well as Taigen. There are other vendors though.

As well DAK Tigers didn't mount the spare tracks on the turret sides. That didn't start to be implemented until spring 1943.

You could put Mato metal links on of you can't find Taigen. I prefer metal spare links, No matter how worn my track sets are when I replace them I keep them. You never know when you need a lot

I found a rare Taigen M26. I took me a whole day to rip out its "guts" and replaced with the Clark's board, recoil barrel unit, barrel elevation motor, barrel muzzle flash, metal gearboxes, DAK IR receiver and the powerful IR emitter. I kept the barrel short so I can battle with it easier. I had extra decals from my Tamiya M26 so I used them on this beast.

I will love to see the inside of your refined Taigen M26. I have a 2005 Heng Long Snow Leopard that is 20% Taigen with the Taigen Gen2 metal gearbox.

The original HL M26 came with plastic gearbox and a short barrel. I made several upgrade of the radio and ended up with the HL 2.4GHz 6.0S.

I upgraded the gearbox to Heng Xin steel gearbox. The mounting approach of Heng Xin limited it to 380 motor. I ran it for about year and want it to run faster than the 26 mph scale speed. The Taigen Gen2 metal gearbox allows me to pair it with the 390 motor. The resultant 40 mph scale speed is too fast for the M26. But it is fun and you will need the metal tracks.

I added barrel recoil using the HL recoil unit that comes with the long barrel. I like the look of it.

The recoil unit was the high end metal recoil set from HL (if I remember correctly). The board is from Sbus Clark TK-50. The gearboxes are just the regular metal Henglong HL 59. And you are right; the metal tracks from this tank are so nice.

My tiger is close to being done, it was just to clean and needed some weathering! Got a little carried away but that’s ok! Now if my decals I ordered from Peddinghaus ever shows up I can finish. Been a month now is that normal for them!

Two of my TongDe M60s (highly modified) at the L.A.Tank 2025 October battle day event. They performed well in the tight streets of the new European village but hand their hands full deals with the smaller more nimble tanks when they got to close.

The basecoat is a mix of Tamiya for a bright RAL8000-
4x XF4, 2x XF52, 1x XF60





The Green Camo Olivegrun is a 50/50 mix XF 55&71



What warms it up and brings it together is a brown filter

Then there was a little bit of oil work for dirt, then it was chipping, washes and pigments..

My M113 ACAV with a M40 Recoilless Rifle. The M113 is from Tongde, the rifle and backpacks are from Rich Johnson's Models n Stuff. A 3mm IR emitter is installed in the rifle, which traverses about 45 degrees. The driver's hatch was removed for a LegoDEI IR receiver.

I'm brand new to RC tanks. I previously only collected 1/32 and 1/18 tanks (Forces of Valor and 21st Century Toys). When I couldn't find a suitable 1/18 T-34/85 I settled on an RC Heng Long despite being slightly larger. Never *needed* an RC. Only wanted a static model. Now I'm hooked. I'm ready for my next addition. Most likely a Sherman. Here's my T-34. I actually ended up changing the turret number three times 😆. First was 457, then 97, now it's 58 and staying that.

Welcome. I see you took your photos where they should be; outside! Since you're coming from a modelling background, you are going to have twice the fun. Building, painting & driving, along with the fun/frustration of maintenance and repairs.
