Maidened my L-39 today and it flies great! 4 nice uneventful flights. A keeper!

Thanks MRC for sharing the cockpit files. I don’t even have this plane yet and I’ve already detailed my cockpit and ordered my batteries. I can’t wait until the L39 is back in stock.

We have tested every board we replaced and so far we have yet to find a bad one. The plane comes out of the box with the landing gear in the up position. I think the board is thrown out of sync when the plane is powered up for the very first time while the radio has the gear switch in the down position but the plane has the gear in the up position. Once it is brought back in sync via the above process, it appears to stay in sync. This is a new board for all of us. In the past, every new plane would receive a new control board. At this point, every new plane will either use this same MCB-E or the MCB-D so all of us will not have to lead a new control board for every new plane. We'll likely go back and swap these boards into existing planes and phase out the one off control boards.

Even after following the oft reposted procedure for re-syncing the gear sequence, I have still not been able to make mine work properly. So I have carried out some experiments using a stabilised power supply, and have discovered that the box only works correctly (i.e. nose gear steering only works with the gear down) when the input voltage is 4.7 to 5.0 volts. As soon as the voltage goes above 5.0, strange things start to happen with the nose gear steering and rudder outputs. I have 2 of the boxes, and was able to replicate these results on both. The effects of higher voltage input are different in each box, but both will only work correctly with 5.0 volts input. To me, this means that something in the box is very voltage sensitive when perhaps it shouldn’t be?
I have used a y lead on the rudder output to bypass the box, so for me, this is not a major issue, but hopefully my experiments may help to identify the source of the problem.
Would anybody else who has had this problem like to try my experiment for themselves, and see if it works for them?

motor timiing help please

i swapped the l39 12 blade for the
1900kv 9 blade and need to setup my fly color esc to match motors needs. i need to choose timing and pwm hz this esc is not accurate in auto mode. here are the motor info from motion site

1900kv
2000 watts
90a max steady
slots 12 WONDER WHAT THIS MEANS
poles 10 AGAIN WONDERING ABOUT THIS TOO

so any help welcome as i am not sure what the slots and poles mean but can one determine timing from these numbers.........

I experienced the same thing out of the box ( before you posted this originally ) I was part of the initial pre-order. I was able to figure this out within several minutes and all has been fine since. Have you guys found any bad boards to date ?

I'm reading about a few of you having issues with the blue box (MCB-E). In general, the problem occurs after connecting everything to the control box and putting the gear down and immediately noticing you can't steer the plane. The problem is the rudder and steering servo are out of sync.

The procedure to put them in sync is the following. Do this with the radio on and battery connected to the ESC of the plane (do not power down plane or radio during tests). For safety, use throttle lock on your radio.

1. Remove steering servo wire from the steering servo port on the MCB-E and connect the steering servo wire to the 2nd rudder port on the MCB-E.
2. Test steering and rudder. Everything should work.
3. Cycle gear up and down 2 – 3 times.
4. Put gear up one last time.
5. Reconnect steering servo to the steering servo port on MCB-E.
6. Test steering with gear up – rudder servo should work, steering servo should not move with the gear up.
7. Put gear down, steering servo should work.

Once they are in sync, they stay in sync. The MCB-E is designed to stop your nose gear steering when the gear is up. You don't want your nose gear banging from side to side in the plane when the gear is up every time you use the rudder.
