Definately use forward bay for battery! Learned the hard way, test flight day before yesterday! It did not turn out well! Replacement parts on the way!

    Hello dear airplane pilots !
I would like to have your opinions (also look at the pictures), because I am preparing my MIG for its first flight in a few days !
    • To have my MIG balanced on the manufacturer's CG, I must use the second compartment at the very front of the plane. The one in the middle gives me a rear CG. For information I use spektrum 6S - 5000mah - 50C - 690g. I installed the blue box and the receiver under the rear battery plate. What do you think ?
    • Also what do you think of the rates proposed in the manual ?
    waiting your answers,
    Thanks 😁
    Olivier

Thanks LB, but "crazy smart"? Many folks use that first word to describe me, but almost no one, including my CO, ever use the second word. 🤯

    Hello,

I have just applied all the decals on the vertical stabilizers. They do look great. I can recommend to use decal softener for a great looking finish.

Does anyone know, where the camouflage decal is going? In my attached screenshot it is marked orange.

I cannot see it from Alpha's pictures. Possibly somebody can upload a picture of his MIG-29 with the decal applied?

    Thanks for the hints.

    Br, spcboarder

Here are the decals themselves, out of the box:

And showing the Tiger decal's placement (self-explanatory... just apply it directly over the existing camo decal on the vertical stab)

Nice wiring, until they come up with wireless servos and on board Wi-Fi, the "spaghetti" wiring demon will continue to plague us all. Some time ago, Jandro ( Airguardian ) had suggested in this forum to locate the RX under the "floor boards" to help alleviate some of the mess in wiring. Obviously I follow all of his suggestions faithfully and did just that on my Mig and F18. The only negative is the reduction in cargo space for my hidden on board illicit contraband. The AR 10360T is under the back battery tray and I also installed a Hobby Eagle gyro for the TV nozzles back there and off to the side. A remote satellite is located up in the nose as well. I was able to place the 2 SMC HiV 5900 batteries with one all the way back and the other in the front bay, with the Castle 20amp BEC in the middle, and still get it to balance at least 25mm behind recommended CG. Maybe the extra weight in paint , TV nozzles, afterburners, 3D printed nozzles and relatively light weight of those packs allowed me to use the front and back bays and still get the CG I wanted without adding any tail weight.

John, I did not know that. They looked outstanding on the B1. I learn something new every day, which is not hard since my brain is an empty slate! 🤣

Birthday coming up next month so at last I have bought the latest version of the Mig 29 Digital camo and the thrust vectoring kit complete with upgraded stab servos and 2150kv 12 blade inrunners ( installed this fan on my F86 and it had plenty of power and 3,5 mins flight time on Admiral 4000mah 40c packs weighing 585gms so I will probably fly with 4000mah packs, separate 20amp BEC, 600mah 2s lipo, Hobby eagle Super 4 gyro.. I will be setting cg at 15mm back from marks and putting 3mm reflex on flaps and ailerons and maybe a bit of landing gear strengthiening .as well. I would appreciate any thoughts on initial tv unit nozzle alignment, photos etc and any flap to elevator settings for landing approach.

I Know you've been spending money on the Tail Flame, but I have to say Chris Wolfe's (RC Geek) afterburners are the best IMO, but not cheap. 🤑 Put those in my Mig 29, as well as 14 other EDF's. Controller is already set up for 2 burners if you need it, with each burner having independent flickering when they come on and you can easily set at what throttle they come on with a push of a button. In 5 years, no issues.

My "Do-It-Yourself afterburners" run two (or even four in a B-1B) independent tailpipes from a single controller. No risk of that kind of "almighty flash" problem.

And they don't turn on at taxi thrust either.

Well I screw that up .Installed two separate Tailflame afterburners to each motor .Tried it out, all worked fine .Both afterburners worked fine .Put it all back together a tried it again. Connected the two lipos ,both motors work fine .Connected one balance lead all OK
Connected second balance lead to second lipo got one almighty flash and the afterburner did not work on that motor but the other motor still work fine .Must of burnt it out by getting something wrong .So I have only 1 motor with the afterburner working. Just ordered a new Tailflame afterburner and try again🤨
