Good job on the flights. Once fixed up it is a nice flying model.

However, as a first-run buyer I thought the way BH handled the wing sweep horn problem for us was very shoddy indeed. I don't intend to do business with BH again.

    • I am going to ask a few things, things I am uncertain about and what not. I just got a V2 version which claims to contain a gyro that does not need bypass and such to use rates and expo like the V1. I am therefore assuming I can set this up like a typical Freewing plane with a preinstalled gyro without having to worry about messing with any cables like I saw in V1 videos. I would like my own rates, trim for when swept, and stuff like that. Has anyone had experience with a V2? Unlike MRC/FW, I do not trust much at BH so I do not want to destroy this plane on the first run.

Send Jeremy Solt a message and he should be able to help you.

If ggillila does not trust BH, then he should not trust Solt either. Solt works for BH and would never say anything that would put BH in poor light. During the release of the V1, Solt & Co. were very UNtransparent, covert about almost everything they did and got extremely defensive when challenged about some of the stuff they were doing and hiding. Why would he be any different now? In fact, when it got too hot in the kitchen, BH mouthpieces pressured RC Guppy to have the heat banned. And their groupies even came here to give the heat a hard time.

Jeremy has helped me with converting mine to the V2 and the plane is solid so I have no idea why all the mistrust that is going on, the OLD BH is gone with crappy planes and so-so support. When I had questions now days they will call me at home/Cell and help me out. I have supported both BH and Motion RC for a very long time and find both companies so a great job with bring products to
the masses and I'm smiling because I have a feeling I will get one of those planes coming soon to the market. Do I trust Jeremy- YES 100% you can believe what you want but he is a good source for the B-1 and the B-2. He gave me the best tip for landing the B-2 and I found out his advice was spot on with no bounce but perfection on landings.

I guess you weren't paying attention at the very beginning of the B1 intro. Many, many, many witnesses at that time and even during ensuing months after that, saw what happened. Solt and that PR guy, Ralph, were complete (put description of your choice here) and what they and their groupies did to me will NEVER be forgiven. Trust is one thing. Acceptance of social behavior is another. 0% on both counts here. (Wait! let's make that -100% on the behavior side.)

              • Customer service, social medial presence and support, product quality, parts support, etc are all different things. In the older days I really liked Pete. The products had their issues but Pete always told it like it was. Recently my only purchase has been a 105mm L-39 that was missing a couple major items when received. I dealt with the owner, I assume, I think her name was Claire or something like that, I honestly don't remember. She was what I would call reasonable dealing with sending me the missing items and then dealt with my disappointment over another issue I had. When it was all said and done I got everything I was missing and she swapped out the parts I had issues with and gave me a fairly costly pilot figure for free. I was 100% happy with the after sales support but she shouldn't have had to do anything if what she got from the factory was correct.

Ralph and Jeremy have both been great and I hesitate to say "difficult". I have deleted the rest of what I wrote here...

                All my opinion of course.

                • I have the new G2 version. How is the RT an option? There is NO option, and the stock esc isnt a reversing thrust esc. I have a Spektrum DX18 so theres gotta be a way to do it. Im using the Spektrum 10ch rx with telemetry. Cant I put a 2nd throttle on a separate channel and switch??

That's really disappointing. I guess they spent so much into the V2, they had to eliminate something and that was RT. RT is built into the ESCs, so if they aren't reversing types, there is no way to do it. Reversing ESCs that are not Spektrum will have an extra single wire lead coming out of the ESC. That is what you hook up to a spare channel and assign that to a switch to reverse the motors.
To get RT, you'll have to replace the ESCs with either reversing ones from Hobbywing or Spektrum "smart" ESCs that have the reversing feature.

                      • Hey all. I've just taken delivery of my B1. Looks like an early one as it's a V1 and didn't come with any wing brackets, as far as I can see. I've purchased them separately. However I'm having trouble finding info on where and how to fit them? Does anyone have photo of the brackets sin place?

                        • Help. My B1 throttle signal wire wont power the reciever. Everything seems to be connected properly. Am I missing something? How do you send power to the reciever?

According to the manual and to the instructional video Banana Hobby put out, it's not supposed to. Did you read the part in the manual about the controller and all the things that need to be plugged into it, especially the part about "BEC1 and BEC2"?
Did you see this video (starting at about 17:30) ................................

I think if you check out the manual and look at the video, you should have your problem solved.

No, detaching the wings on this model would be a significant headache with the variable sweep mechanism. I keep it in one piece except for taking off the nose cone for transport. The tail section would be reasonably practical to remove, certainly easier than removing the wings.

Awesome! How do you like its flight characteristics, overall?

I'm trying to remember, there was someone a couple of years ago who made a HUGE 747-400 rc plane. It was very accurate, detailed, and beautiful. It might have been painted in KLM colors, not sure now. Was that you and your plane by any chance?

                                        F106,

                                        I want one.

I was privileged to have flown my one hour in the B1-B sim at McC in the late '80s when we had 384th BW.

                                        Unforgettable and awesome.

Seeing these flying early evening training sorties over east Wichita using the occasional AB was spectacular.

                                        Best, LB

I quite enjoy the version 2. Had a less than desirable experience with the first version, but the new gyro helped immensely. The version 1 “ self trimmed” and made it very difficult to judge control authority limits until it was too late. It now acts more like a normal gyro and isn’t disruptive. It gets surprisingly floaty with the wings put, and just looks cool with the wings swept. Takes a good amount of up elevator to trim it in the swept condition, but seperate flight modes make that simple. The retracts are a work of art and I haven’t had any problems there. Definitely recommend it, and the RC geek afterburner kit works perfectly in it!

As for the 747, I did have an HSD Jets 747 in the KLM scheme a few years back. It is now refinished as the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft:
