Official FlightLine F4U-1A Corsair 1600mm (63") Wingspan

Well, an interesting day at the field to say the least. Had the Corsair up and flew fairly well, although we seemed to have some good breezes at around 100 feet. Made the rooky mistake of landing short of the runway (I believe that's a first for me). I managed to snap the pin that attaches the retract to the strut, fortunately, on the same retract that I just replaced, so I had a spare 'claw'. All fixed up and ready to fly again.
I got one of the last with the smaller pins so I ordered a complete set of retracts with the bigger sized pins, if I have to replace the retracts again, they're ready to go.
Speaking of retracts, the first one had a hairline crack, right where Dave said it would be, from the first landing so when I replaced it, I wrapped a couple of winds of electrical tape around the 'arm' of the retract to give it some more strength, no cracks this time.
Has anyone upgraded to the bigger sized pins and if so, has it helped?

Not a warbird but a scale relaxing putt-around for these hot lazy days of June. FMS 1400mm J-3 Cub, 55" wingspan and comes with floats.3 club members live on a lake nearby, so we plan to try our hand at water flying. Will be a first for me and they have boats to rescue any mishaps. A quality plane and has a lot of scale features. Slow posts lately so I'm just jawing with all of you. I have the summer blues on building.

Rex just chillin is good.. ive just moved house,,, there happens to be a big lake (lilydale lake).. melbourne couple hundred yards from me.. loven the jets ,, but who sais a small float plane is no fun,, grand son will luv it ,,, well in a year or to have fun b safe.. days getin longer as yours r shorter

Hey team finally got couple new spektrum rx.. so now can get spit and corsair airbourne again... wind this weekend is nothingso will fly something was hopeing corsair.. but after sitting idle in the pacific with no mantenence she is not quite right,,, but here is couple pics of the old dog

Download the STL files to "Slice" and go from there.

Could be resized, modded, or redesigned to fit most any radial engine cowling.

Thanks, Steve. I'll give it a go! BTW, although the wind came up this morning to nix continuing my cuff tests on the CE prop mods, I have much more confidence now that they will work. I think your sending a V2 file with thickened cuffs and then my getting more liberal with the glue and sealing the ends of the cuffs with CA, has made them virtually like a part of the prop itself. I may have to wait for Sunday or Monday to really wring them out with more test flights, but I think they have a good chance of staying on the airplane at this point. And with all the tests I did for about a year with my own design, I know that they don't negatively impact the airplane's flight characterisitcs, even if one or more pop off in flight. But I think these will stay on the airplane, hopefully. Will report back results next time I fly.

Yes, Craig. It got the engine turning over enough to where you could add the fuel and ignition and get the engine started. Pretty common practice, especially on the remote islands where they operated.

I don't know if you have seen the 1965 version of Flight of the Phoenix with Jimmy Stewart or not, but here is a clip of them using the cartridge to try and get the engine started on their rebuilt airplane in the desert. Great action clip!
