        Steve -

Great to see the support here for designers contributing to the hobby. As such a designer, I share your concern. However, to my understanding, under US and international law intellectual property protection requirements are explicit and exacting for the inventor. To garner IP protection, we need to apply for a patent prior to any public release of concept. Said another way, no patent, no protection.

The file sharing websites (eg Thingiverse, Cults, Printables etc) have their own rules. They seem to offer basic protection for file theft within the platform. It's not clear they would offer protection for use of file or 'concept' from another platform. For example, if I post a file on Printables and another user posts that file on Cults for a price, do I have recourse? I expect not.

Agreed, a case could be made for 'fraud' and 'willingness to deceive' as intent. I could stop posting designs, which would save a lot of grief. One "DB" spoils my fun, your fun, and free stuff for other modelers. That's probably not going to happen. "My point about being willing and able is simple, I will spend the money to file the complaint, does the other guy want to spend the time and money to defend? LB said, banging his sword and gnashing his teeth...it does just p1ss me off."

      • Elbee,
I agree with you 100%. Designers like you who give willingly has made my modeling experience a true delight. Those that try to profit from your endeavors will never rise above an ant's belly.
        Best Regards, Rex

        • Guys didn't mean to start a SH*T storm here.

This latest project has spanned years. Started in 2023 sat for many many months and recently finished.

Full disclosure: I bought the pilot and the canopy interior frame from CG trader. (I think) Not sure if I paid for "EVERYTHING" some were freebees.

I just stated that ( all were paid for ) as when I finish something like this i usually get inundated with requests for .stl files.
Since the project was older and I wasn't sure what was purchased and what was a freebee, I didn't want to mistakenly send intellectual property that should be paid for out to random requesters.

Again thanks for the nice comments.

                  • Ttaking my Corsair off , virtually at the end of the taxi so speed is high and the water is literally going over the wing ( no exaggeration ) and the model noses over. As I approach the model I glad there is no damage, no broken prop ect.

I revved my motor as a test and it made a strange sound. So I called it a day and decided I would take it home and disassemble it and do more test.
Removed the prop , tested the blades and assembly and it was 100% cleared.
Then I attempted to disassemble the more to determine if I had a loose magnet.
Well like the Wheels on these models , Flightline uses red style permanent lock tight and ( I found ) removing the motor assembly screws is virtually impossible.

Ok , fast forward , I reassemble and test at home , sounds ok. I take it to the field, test /taxi seems ok but remember I am not up to 75% or more in the throttle.
I go to take off and surprisingly the model lifts off at what appears to be 45% power . I was lucky I did not stall the plane . I attempted to accelerate and gain altitude and you could hear a loud clicking . So I turned as quickly as possible, landed successfully and went to plan B.

Plan B, had to order a new motor, backplate and sub shaft assemebly as stated could not get these parts ( apart ).
So in my waiting for a new motor as, does anyone think its my esc and if so should I replace that at the same time ?

My initial assumption is that the jolt dislodged a magnet but is it possible that the jolt ( ground strike ) damaged the ESC and the motor is actually good ?
i am a week away from my delivery of the new motor. Everything seems to point to a magnet problem.

In closing, been asking Motion to communicate to Flightline for 3 years on the red style locktight with no response . I love the Flightline birds and Motion RC, but wish they would make this one simple change to the assembly process . Increasing my wheel size on the Corsair was a simple process that became a major PIA when I encountered the red locktight. Applying heat was the answer but did not want to do so on the motor for fear of damage

                    • Maybe a slightly bent motor shaft?

Good thought but would that create clicking ? With the new motor installed and shaft and backplate , we will see this week . If I still have issues then its the ESC lol

                        • Yes, an out runner bell offset will let the magnets hit the commutator (windings). If you look at the prop hum at the very tip running slowly is it rotating straight?

She flew great now that I'm zeroing in on the rates and trim. I'm running 60% midrates which seems pretty good. What I'll do is set the low rates to 60 and the mids to 63 and compare, like going to the eye doctor, "Is it better here or here", you know what eye mean
