Okay, Ladies, I've structurally assembled my Mitchell Bomber. I really like how everything screws together. The outer wing has plastic catches, for attachment to the inner wing. This is one thing that I've made a mental note to myself to check closely before each flight. It does feel secure, once it has snapped into place, but I am a bit concerned about the plastic pieces. Not hugely, but some. Everything else screws together. Alignment was perfect. I never had to modify anything, to allow it to go together. Easy peasy!

Electrically, I did a couple mods:
    1. I used my own extensions to run the two elevator servo wires to the location where my rx will go. Each will get its own channel.
    2. I pulled the aileron servo connector out of the back of the interface board on each outer wing. I added own extension to reach the rx location. I made a small cutout in the interface board to allow the ail servo wire to bypass the I/F board without pinching or cutting the servo wire. I snaked the ail extension through yhe inner wing and past the inner-wing interface board. Each aileron servo will get its own channel.

The aileron and elevator servos will bypass the blue box, too, and will plug directly into the rx. All other functions I left in the blue box and interface boards.

The ESCs are in each respective nacelle, and the throttle wire and battery wire run into the fuselage through their own ports. I will set these up for differential thrust, mixed with the rudder.

I haven't done it yet, but I will pull the steering servo wire out of whatever it's plugged into and will give it its own channel and trim tab, mixed with the rudder.

I'm calling it an evening. Tomorrow, I'll install the RX and will write my model program (OpenTX Radiomaster T16S, and will run an FrSky S8R witb two xbus extensions to get 16 channels). With the S8R, I will install a battery voltage sensor and a GPS sensor, telemetering the data to the TX.

This model is beautiful! 1.6m is a GREAT size! Great job, Motion RC!!!!

I suppose it would all be based on your Order Number, not the date of order, hmmm. I will post my order number tomorrow. Best, LB

SO the question is really when did you see the announcement. Minutes after it was made or days? As Tom has said the ones that have shipped are actually from a small second shipment that was received before the main, large, first shipment that is still undergoing inspections.

I placed my preorder minutes after I saw the announcement. No shipment notification for me yet.

Y'all, Like many of you, I received my Mitchell today via FedEx.

The now famous "Blue Tape" Outer Shipping Box had few dings and slight tears, but nothing that penetrated into the finely decorated inner box.

Opened her up and saw one beautiful B-25J. I have wanted one, like, forever.

    Happy Customer here, Boys-n-Girls.

    Best, LB

I'm not going to split hairs with you though. As I said in the earlier post, if I'm going to buy a HH product, I'd rather get it through my LHS anyway, if I know that the LHS will carry the product that I want. The point that I was originally trying to make is that I'll never pre-order from HH again, but am comfortable pre-odering from Motion, even when things don't go perfectly as planned.

I get that you're a brick-n-mortar hobby shop owner. Your perspective is a bit different than us end users. It's a tough business, trying to compete with web sales. Too many LHS's are closing their doors. I hate to see that. That's horrible for the hobby, and for the shop owners.
Not a owner I do a few days a week at the LHS as a retirement gig. My "perspective" is helping people be successful at the hobby and enjoy it , nothing more. On a side note " as a end user" I have a 2 car garage full of planes from all the suppliers you can think of, also on the board of our R/C club . Also I agree with the closing of shops every day I hear of anther going away. Sad.

It's nice that I can offer my customers that buy Horizon stuff on the spot replacement of products with "issues" along with support on those items..

I understand the pre-order process. I don't have a problem with it unless the company has oversold a product that they know they will not be able to deliver as promised. Positive Grid is a great example. They offered a great little amp and I pre-ordered one. Although 6 months after the promised delivery date I could not get even an estimation as to when I would receive my amp and yet the company continued offering the amp on a pre-order basis. I eventually asked for a refund and bought a different amp which filled my needs perfectly. I understand the delays due to the inspections and I am patiently waiting for my B-25. I am hoping to see it by the end of August.

If the pre-order announcement would've said, "as soon as the dealers get theirs, we'll start sending out online pre-orders, I wouldn't just saved my pre-order money and bought directly from my LHS. I'd actually prefer to buy through my LHS anyway, and would've gotten it quicker, too. Just saying, I'll never pre-order anything else through HH. I don't really care for HH products much any more anyway; so, it doesn't really matter.

It'd be cool if Motion had a brick-n-mortar presence of some sort, but I don't think that that's in their business model. I'd kinda hate to see a dealership markup added to the final price though. Can't have everything...

LOL, you really think you were the first to order that? Here's how it works , Horizon Dealers get 1st shot at pre-orders and delivery of new product first. As it should be , we do 3 or 4 orders a week for Horizon. LHS deserve to get it 1st. While HH is no where near perfect LHS's don't have much of a choice as far as vendors, I wish Motion had a dealer program.

FedEx sez that my Mitchell Bomber will be landing on my porch tomorrow. <happy dance>

For what it's worth, I want to say that I really, really appreciate getting preferential treatment (meaning getting one of the first aircraft), for committing to buy and putting my money down early. Another toy airplane company, whom I won't name, but whose initials are Horizon Hobby, have pissed me off more that once on preorders. Their 1.5m FW-190 is an aircraft that I REALLY wanted, and I preordered as soon as I was able to do so. I was probably in the first 10 to preorder. Then, before I got mine shipped to me, local hobby shops had them on their shelves. I think that hobby shops had them a whole week before I received mine. I know that HH values its brick-n-mortar distributors and wants to keep them happy, but it sucks how they handle preorders. I'll never preorder anything else from HH, and I rarely buy any of their overpriced SAFE products any more, anyway. Semi-rant over.

I remain very comfortable pre-ordering from Motion. Thank you, MotionRC, for taking care of your loyal customers!

Purchased mine June 27th 5PM PST. No tracking email so far...

Some additional help with the scale rims would be appreciated.

Is there room for Robart 3.5" and 2.5" tires? The actual Robart ODs are approx 88mm and 63mm. FL OEM tire ODs previously reported at 85mm and 60mm above.

Could someone share the precise front and main axle diameters and rim width at axle? eg caliper accurate to +-0.01mm
