Hey All,

Quick post.

In the process of working on the empannage for this beauty, I naturally mushed the foam tail skid into an unrecognizable something.

So, I figure so have you in one form or another.

Quick print and I recommend using 'elephant foot' compensation of 0.2mm so the pins will fit easily into the skid.

Frankly, you can simply glue the part on without the pins using 'kit glue'.

Hey Y'all,

Experimenting with FLM v SLA parts of the same design.

What detail I designed in is not gonna show much, but it is there.

I am having some issues with warping on the SLA parts pre-curing which might require a design change or a resin change.

Cracks me up to see the differences, even though it isn't much.

As of today, if I had to choose, I pick the FLM parts considering once primed and painted, whose gonna see the differences?

Hey All of who are still with me...


Started on some filler work.

EPO is just not much for sanding, however, filler is.

So I have taking the foam down and refiling it where I can.



Worked well on the Corsair, but adds a little bit-o-weight.

Haven't had to do much filling.
Only after I ran my corsair into a tre early in the peice.. lol.. I used auto body filler. U guys call it bondo

I thought about using a 2 part auto filler, I have one called "Icing" that is lightweight and does a good job, but the area to fill is as far aft as it gets, so any weight is bad weight. We'll see how this Sherwin-Williams wall filler goes. Best, Steve

I like using light weight spackle. by DAP, it sands easily and is very light. I remember sanding/filling this area on my FMS B-25 Ruptured Ducks (times 2). Yours will look great!

I like the Sherwin-Williams light weight spackle as recommended by The RC Geek but it is NOT intended to be structural.

I designed a little reinforcement box for that area, Looks okay.

Hey All,

I did not like the way the 'free hand' fairing looked, so I scaled the part off of my decal placement sheet and printed a little template to form the filler.

Won't be all that noticeable, but this covers more exposed foam I had cut away and is closer to correct.

Next is cutting the hole for the bottom fuselage gun turret and start the filler process on the fuselage and the first Minwax Poly coats.

It had a scanning lens gun-sight with the Operator inside the fuselage.

I can see why this was later modified to a tail gunner.

Great rendition of the ventral gun turret. Man, that would be tough to try and catch a good bead on an approaching aircraft through that little periscope between the guns! I know an improved version of the design was used successfully on the B-29, but at least they could look out a large bubble windon with a much improved gunsight to have a good shot at an approaching fighter.

Keep up the good work on your B-25 project!

Good to hear from you, Bob.

I'm currently priming and sanding the horizontal and fuselage.

The rigid pink foam sands too well compared to the EPO and keeps showing up as a seam line as I sand the primer.:rolling_eyes:

I did all the filling and did not notice that until I applied the primer, typical right.:confounded:

I am going to have to make some compromises and hope some weathering will cover the seams.:unamused:

Just an update on using the little nail tech brushes. I had messed up some inst. dials and using the little brush I was able to touch up the instrument bezel without damaging the dial face. Patience is required but I highly recommend them.

I read somewhere that using that Bendix turret caused spatial disorientation and motion sickness among gunners using it. Still, it is neat you found an airplane that used this design for a while until they came up with a better solution for the times.
