  • Hi Rex: yes, that is the one. Works great, and installing is a snap. Let me know when you get serious about installing it when you get the part, and I am happy to help. You should find it pretty easy to do.I Have it insatlled and operating on all three of my P-47 aircraft.

It does have a relatively sophisticated drop timing mechanism, and it can be tied to a sequencing system (like dropping wing pylon bombs/fuel tanks) but the entire range of timing is less than a second, so if you are just dropping a single drop tank from the center store, you can pretty much ignore the blinking lights. But it is interesting and could be used tying more of these units together for a realistic sequence.

BTW: I just ordered the drop tank units for the Flightline P-51D from RC Castle in China, as they are forever held up for some reason at Motion. My units will come in a couple weeks or so, hopefully. I look forward to dropping TWO drop tanks simultaneously, along with all the other "goodies" it has like the operable landing light and others.

    Cheers

    • Thanks Dave.
Sounds like you have a plan and a flight test checklist before flight. Looking forward to your reports. Wish this rain would stop. We had a fun fly last sat. and the wind was gusting over 20 mph. we kept flying our sport planes and was an experience that keeps us on our toes. no crashes so not a bad day.
The more I fly with new radio the more I like it. My 7c is nice but older tech, will install new 8ch spektrum in the P-47 for the added features.
Hope your weather is better but our summer will probably turn off hot and dry

Hi Rex: the plane is basically flyable for a maiden now, but I'll wait until I get all the Callie decals on it and weather it for photos before first flight. That "could" happen this week, but might have to slip until after my trip to Washington, DC next week, depending on when Callies's package arrives. The basic checks have been done, CG, flight controls, etc., but I still have a thorough ground test program on each new airplane before I send it into the air for the first time. I'll attach a pic of how it stands right now. Ready for Callie's transfers, and Danger Dan is working on painting a pilot I printed that I bought from CG Trader. Enlarged it to 1/7 scale, but had to cut the pilot off at the waist to make sure he would fit inside ok. Should look a lot better than the OEM pilot bust, but I'll admit they did a pretty good job with this newest one. This one will be one of the early D bubbletop models flown by Maj. "Pete" Peterson, Hurry Home Honey of the 357th FG.

I was invited to attend a preview of the all the new exhibits and galleries at the NASM before it opens officially on July 1. The downtown museum on the Mall opened on that date 50 years ago for the first time. Astronaut Michael Collins of Apollo 11 fame was the first Director of the museum. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the projects that I did for this new look and transformation of the museum. There are a couple of galleries not quite ready to open yet, but I still hope that I can get a peek at my 1:15 space shuttle that is hopefully hanging on display. It should be fun, and they have a ton of cool things going on on the National Mall, like a "state fair" set up that will have all 50 states' displays on view for the visitors showing why each of our states is special and unique. Probably good (and probably not so healthy!) food to eat, too!

        Cheers
