Haha, well once I get the prop balanced (talking to Brian) and figure out this throttle curve issue on my TX, I'll tackle that logging.
Logging will let you know where the throttle curve is currently set. Go ahead and let Brian do all the props you have. You save on shipping that way. According to James his props are consistently 2 to 3 mph faster that the other prop finishers.
I trust James at his word and Brians speed prove that he knows what he's doing.
You cant see the throttle settings etc of the inverter without logging it. Youve no choice but to get into it sooner than later if you want to change the curve....
It also truly should be the first thing you do with a fast electric boat not the last. When you do not know where it is in amp draw you are only asking for trouble. My suggestion is you log and look at every run.
Fun day. So I met with John Walters, the actual driver of my all-time favorite unlimited hydroplane , the 1982 Pay N’ Pak, well documented in this thread. He was gracious enough to take time out of his busy schedule with Seafair to meet me. He signed my boat and a commissioned illustration of the boat I had framed.
It was a real treat to talk to him, hearing some stories about why the cowling was the way it was, etc. He truly enjoyed my boat and shared it with his crew (they oversee the entire unlimited races).
A nice touch!!!! It is nice to live in such an unlimited area of the country where you get a chance to see the real thing and meet the real people. The signature on the actual boat makes it even more a shelf queen now...
You gotta build a pure racer you can really grab a wrist full of throttle on.
I researched how to protect autographs and I found a sealant that may just work. You apply several light coats and it protects the autograph. Now that she is completely RTR, it would be a real shame for her to never see the water again.

So I will see how it goes and report back.
Sounds good to me. . Any damage would only keep you constructively active in modeling
You have a really nice radio and esc. You should go ahead and integrate telemetry into the model. So you can monitor temps and other parameters. Futaba also has the GPS available That's nice because you can determine your boats slip when you know the rpm and actually speed. I'm going to deck mine and since it has the protruding nose you see it has ram air canard up front I'm building it. If I give it an enclose cockpit it will give me more room for batteries. It was going to be a Miss Tosti Asti but I think I might make it this Winston eagle. The ram air canards and horizontal. stabilizer will be active. Those are the things I plan with the extra channels. The other reason Id choose this boat is because I can pull off the paint job myself.
Im pretty sure you will enjoy this. It will show you the ram air canards pictured added after the big flip. Just wondering are you adding the afterburner led light kit to the stack? Back then you just could not keep the miss Budweiser down. It has to be the most iconic unlimited boat of all time.

What do you think?
Thanks,

Love it! Please create a build thread if and when you decide to do it.
I'm still trying to figure out the throttle curve setting on my radio. I followed the instructions and it still just goes to full power the instant I touch the throttle.

Oh yes, I found that video a while ago and watched every second of it! Pay N Pak turbine videos are rare indeed. I don't have plans for any afterburner...

The calibration of the throttle may be off . You need to set up the logger and look at the inverter settings.
Clugh. Many years ago couple American liquid q mile drag boats came down under. Scary stuff on water cya
Lots of power for sure.. There's is probably nothing better than the freedom of flight but the fast electrics are pretty fun. Its a lot of action on the water. Building something to scale is always gratifying.
Aros have you ever connected the castle link and looked at the inverter? Its not as complicated as you may think. There's also alot to the Futaba systems, so try to familiarize yourself with the bible. The real one is online . You get the baby bible included with the radio system.
Im still learning the 10 PX but i have done all the FW updates to the system at least. The XLX isnt as easy to configure as the older castle in my opinion. One problem for me is they want to use red and green led indicators, and I truly have trouble distinguishing between the two colors . Its not color blind. I can see the colors. I forgot what the condition is called. I had quite a go setting up the land version.
Im ordering the Hydra Version today for the Insane monoplane,. so when I set it up I'll share the long journey to setting up the telemetry, motor monitoring, etc.. You need an additional Futaba S link usb dongle from castle.
Thats the sound of everything you wrote going right over my head.
I promise once you familiarize yourself, changing the inverter settings and logging your running data will be pie. I'm interested in how many kW your motor is putting out anyway.. What propeller do you have on it?
