I didn't know gear box have different versions. Will this gear work with my 6.0 board and do I have to exchange out the left (working) box as well ? Dai

When the 6.0 tanks came out HL changed the type on steal used for the gears and dropped the black finish that’s all.

Great! Do I need to replace the other motor that is working as well ? Dai

That’s up to you. Personally I would leave it. “ If it ain’t broke don’t fix it “ kinda thing.

I was told the 5.3 wires need to be changed. So this is what I need? 4 mm male ? Dai

I would just cut the ones you have now off and then splice them onto the new motor wires. Same amount of work but no further out of pocket cost.

That is what I will do since cannot use the old motor anymore. Dai

I replaced the gear box and the tank runs fine. I had to reverse the red/black connections to get the right control. You are right, the 5.3 gear box looks more refined than the 6.0 version. The latter looks crude while the former looks to be better quality. Dai

                          Welcome Studiocat13.

Great Job! Thank you for sharing...

Did you seal the battery box somehow to prevent any possible water from damaging the cotton for the speaker? Did you separate the speaker/cotton from the battery/wires? I like your mod for slowing down the turret speed.

I like my Panther G quite a bit although I haven't done much modding besides adding metal road wheels and paint and weathering.

                          Good stuff, keep it up!

I like the use of the battery box for the speaker. I usually end up cutting the battery box out and creating my own speaker box, but in a pinch that way would be quicker.

On the gearbox issues I would replace them both at the same time personally as then it mitigates any chance that there are differences in the gearboxes causing the tank to pull to one side or the other when driving straight. I would use the old gearboxes for spare parts. I guess it's all up to you though. You could also put the old ones up on Ebay as "Broken for parts only" and recoup some of your money as long as you remember shipping and Ebay fees are high these days.

Thanks Chef, Its coming along ! As for the battery box, I just have some foam weather stripping on the door currently but after I am satisfied with everything I plan to completely seal the door with silicone. With the speaker being low voltage, there is no real need to separate the speaker wires from the cotton filling and the battery leads have been relocated to the inside of the hull. And yes, the turret speed mod worked out quite well ! Would love to see some pics of your tank when possible.

                              Thanks again !

Tank looks great Chef ! I am planning to do pretty much the same thing as far as painting the wheels just a different color layout. What did you use to paint and weather the metal tracks ? Also, where did you score the bucket for the rear ? Thanks !

                                      Nice wheels!

When you took them off to paint did you also remove the suspension leading or trailing swing arms and springs?

                                      Keep it up...

The tracks I use Gun Bluing fluid then weather and paint to finish. Heres the fluid I like best- https://www.brownells.com/tools-clea...g/oxpho-blue~/

I've tried several bluing fluids and like this one the best. I buy the big bottle 32oz. it's more cost effective and provides at least 4 to 5 sets of tracks if not more.

Heres a video showing how to blacken/weather metal tracks with another fluid. The Brownells stuff does the same thing and is cheaper by volume-

The buckets you can get lots of places I had a few left over from Taigen Tanks- https://www.taigentanks.com/collecti...ket-set-1-pair

I have attached pictures of the parts in question. On page 6 of the manual parts 8 and 9 are shaded. Part Private Messages (item on the left in the picture) looks like a periscope. Part Albums (item on the right in the picture) looks like a rangefinder. I have no idea as to what the third part is (center). Did anyone figure out what these parts are for?

Warbirdfan, great looking Panther. What color(s) did you use on the towing cables? How did you attach the jerry can? Any other color suggestions for the accessories?
