Some tanks like loose tracks...some don't. All you can do is experiment. Most modern tanks like tight tracks. Those Panther tracks looks a little tight, but if it's reliable that way it may not be worth messing with.

Ha ha I’m going to take that advice to not mess with it if it works.. I have the tendency to tighten the screw until it breaks, then back off a quarter turn 🤣

Could you let me know what bearings you installed on the driveshaft? And did you just add them on to the factory driveshaft and if so, any modification? Thank you

Sorry I missed your question. I'm not on here as often as I used to be.

Here's the bearings that I got. They snugly slip onto the driveshafts and can be pressed into the holes in the side of the lower hull wall where the driveshafts come out.They can be fit by tension of a dab of superglue. As an aside note I've found the bearings more important on Tiger I's.

For the Heng Long ball bearing need, I use Uxcell brand bearings from Amazon. Cheap, shipping fast and known quality. Not sure it is as good as Fasteddy bearings, but is definitely good enough for HL tanks.

Hello all, I have a heng long /motion RC professional edition panther five question having to do with tension on the metal treads. So when I was inspecting it, I noticed one of the idler wheels was significantly back further than the other one. After doing some investigating, I found whoever put it together at the factory put on one of the plastic idler hub supports on upside down. So when I went to put it back together correctly, when I try to put the track back on which what feels like it is at the proper tension. I can see it putting tension on that plastic idler hub support. I know that’s not good. So when I adjust it to the next lesser tension setting, it feels like the tread is sagging too much. If anyone has a panther five professional edition that has the treads dialed in could you send me a picture of it from the side so I can compare it? My tracks are currently off for painting, but I will attach pictures of the angles that I have the plastic idler supports set at. This is the setting that feels like it just has a little bit too much slack but it’s not putting Tension on the plastic hub support. Thanks In advance

Edit… I did look back and I did take a picture of what appears like it is too much slack in the tread, but this is the least amount that won’t put tension on the plastic hub. Thoughts? Thanks again.

The test is in the driving; if it's too loose, the track will ride off the sprocket teeth, especially when turning or backing up in rough ground like sand dirt, leaves, bark or grass. If it doesn't, it's ok. Its good to keep an eye on the idlers, as they are the weakest link in our plastic tanks' suspension.

I appreciate it thank you. I could see how those plastic idler attachment points could easily get overstrained. I have looked, but I don’t see any metal upgrades for those for the panther g

I'm sure you got the parts from a website called https://www.henglongtanks.com/ or something, but the company that owns Toucan Hobby owns that website. Toucan announced the launch of that website last year. There was a post on this forum about it.

Hello commanders. I fell in love with the panther G. I ordered a full custom version with all the metal road wheels/idlers/sprockets/tracks etc. 360 turret/turret recoil. I have a few questions

is going all metal going to be an issue? I’m new and only own the merkava upgrade edition which i also love.

also, did ww2 tanks particularly the panther G have that motorized turret sound or did they make that squeaky sound? I saw a video of a heng long ww2 tank that made the squeaky sound while the turret was traversing. Does the 7.0 board have that sound?

I’ve got 4 HL tanks with 7.0 and they don’t have a bad squeaky turret noise. I have a king tiger pro with the all metal road wheels . Works very well. I found the metal hubs caps on the road wheels would pop off so I tacked them on with a small dab of rubber cement .

I also have a panther professional edition (with plastic road wheels though) . The only issue I had with it was one of the idlers sat at a significant angle causing the track to bind on it. After shimming it to have it sit parallel to the rest of the wheels it’s been great

I like your wheels. I painted mine all green but the color came out a bit brighter than I anticipated. I may remove the wheels and repaint them. What’s really awesome about the metal road wheels is that the tires come off really easily but also stay on during operation. Thank you.
