    • Not mine. An excellent conversation of the Tamiya Leopard 1A4 into an early model Leopard 1. I wish HL would make this version🤞🤞

          • Two Zis's: The Zis-3 gun needs a tow vehicle. Enter a Zis-150. A while back I'd gotten the truck, by JJRC from Taigen Hobbies. It had been sitting in a cabinet, and I was taking it out for a project when I realized it already had a purpose in life!

I'll probably dirt & rust up the truck to match the gun.

A note here. Stay away from this kit! It uses a single 130 motor, incapable of any power. A pebble will cause the truck to stall rather than climb over. The supplied battery is also powerless. I rewired and cut the truck to accept a 2S 800mah battery. The stock steering is straight or full deflection. I rebuilt it completely with a servo for proportional movement. Finally, the controller or the receiver is unreliable.

But, like some girlfriends, it looks cool so we keep it around.

            • Hmm, I don't see the photo I attached to my previous post. Well, I'm always producing. Here's a really short clip that includes some stills and a clip for "proof it runs".

                • Relatively new to rc tanks. Having fun with it. Learning that maintenance is required. Latest project is to improve the smoke from a Sherman. The baffles do not have open vents and the exhaust tips are too far away.

                  • Hi 761. Thanks for the compliments elsewhere. Regarding smoke, here’s what I’ve done. I drilled small holes in the baffles to make refilling easier. However, I did two things to really help. First, get some “mega smoke” or “mega steam”, used with model trains. Second, when and if you open up the tank, refill the smoke box directly. I’ve found that the tubes and right angle joints obstruct the flow of refilling fluid.

oh, one more thing. There are two types of smoke generators, a piston pump and a fan type. The fan is far superior; quiet and constant output.

                    Good luck and have fun!

                    • Thanks SoCal. Ordering the steam. Mine are piston. After 5 months of waiting for AliExpress I cancelled the order for a fan type. Thanks for the input and help. Sherman work today.

                      • Email Toucan Hobby if you want parts. If they have them in the US (and you are) delivery is usually 10 days. If it's from China, 2 to 3 weeks. They take Paypal. Toucanhobby@outlook.com.

Regarding the smokers, I don't know this for a fact, but I've been told the fan type heating element gets hotter. This video clip shows what to expect from some relative outputs. The Bulldog has a pretty straight exhaust route, a fan unit and the mega smoke. The Panzer IV has the piston unit, the Panzer III and T-34 also have fans.

                        • Nice group of tanks. I like them all. Especially the Panzer LV. I have one scheduled for a build. Smoke looks great on all of them. I have used and am very pleased with Toucan. I will give a closer look at the fan style if they have it. Dremeled another opening in the baffle and placed heat shrink over the exhaust. I still had to zip tie as they would slip off. Now smoke does come from the baffle. First to try Mega. I hope our struggling hobby shop has it before I order out.

                                  • Just for fun!

A video clip from a couple of years ago; An M1A1 takes aim at a T-72. This was shot in slow motion. The noises you hear are the airsoft gun spring being compressed. Three shots were taken, the first two went high, the third was on target. The recoil, slowed down, actually looks pretty realistic!

Twenty six tanks, and not done yet!

761st - Thank you very much. Your KT looks great as well - The late war camo scheme and zimmerit is very well done. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished.
