" Well i got her permission. " Says it all...F4u......join the club. 8s ? Don't think I'm qualified to progress to that ! I was playing about with the afterburners at the weekend because I thought they had a big draw on some cells in the 6s, seemed like it on the charger after a flight. In my nonchalant (good word) way, I strapped the battery in a wee 1/4----1/8 behind the mark on the ply plate. This morning I thought I'd give it a try. No problem, lifted off very nicely, flaps up, bit nose high, trimmed it, wee bit "livelier" on the sticks....lovely nose high approach and soft touch down. New mark on the ply now! That's only after about 4 years on the mark !! New grey marine lad just waiting on motor from Freewing......Thanks for the comp. LB.........seems many years ago now!.

Thanks guys, it is just that I do not like the design of the skull. I , for my sins, and for all my "working" life, was a woodcarver/artist, My company specialised in carving and painting heraldic devices and the skull just does not measure up. I think I will just paint over it. Way back I used to hand paint all this stuff. Never used decals. The pic is one of my companies products....did them when I used to be artistic. .

LA, When I removed all the paint down to the bare foam on my FW A-10a, I soaked paper towels with acetone and draped those over the model.

It lifted the OEM Paint easily. I wiped most of it off with the same paper towel.

    Took a couple afternoons.

If I was doing a repaint and there is OEM water-slides/vinyl decals, I would use acetone and paper towels again.

Worth a try if you're repainting anyway.

    Best, LB

If its a decal u need to remove it,, but it will pull paint,, water slide ,paint over and cant tell,, lb over on spitfire thread, gave good description, somebody also wanted to change scheme... one thing u dont need to use the latex paint.. i use auto paint( im a an auto body man) its not the cheap option , adhesion is very good.. u may have a hardwhare store to buy interior house paint,, they can color match, for u.... lastly do the grey f4 come with decals fitted now,, used to b 2 decal sets?

"Its fwing 1835 " Yes, I have the FMS 1835 and didn't realise Freewing made one as well. I just bought the Freewing 1750, it is supposed to produce 4600 - 4900 gms of thrust so hopefully that will improve off grass stuff.

On a different subject, is there a way to remove the skull transfers on the tail. I am not over fond of the design and would like to change it. It looks as if painting over them is about all one can do.

I've got the FW 4068-1835Kv 12 blade inrunner in both of my F-4's. As a matter of fact, put those in my FW 90mm F16 and both of my FW 90mm F-18's. Love that fan and the sound of a 12 blade is sweet. I'm sure the 1750Kv will be similar to the 1835Kv, so you should enjoy it. More power than what was in those aircraft stock (although several were purchased early on when they came with the outrunner ). I fly off grass so any additional punch at take-off is well appreciated. I'm now flying all of those on the new 740 gr SMC HiV 5900's (used to use the 6200's which weighed 840gr). On the F-4, I have my timer set at 4:00 and usually come down there or at 3:50 (as much flight time as the 6200's or better since it lost some weight). Suggest you balance it close to the manual recommendation of 190mm. I'm at 195mm and like it there, as for me the F-4 really gets squirrely any further back, unlike all the other EDF's I have balanced 20-40mm further back. Just my opinion though.

I recently installed the Freewing 3668 1960Kv after having the 4068 1835Kv for about a year. Lightened the plane up, and on a 6S 6000 Admiral, I can easily get a 4 min flight time with throttle management.

.Seeing the 1900 Freewing and it has more static thrust than the 1850 so looks like a winner. Some of you boffins can fill me in on how 4300g translates through from static to in-flight power (please) Mainly interested in getting improved performance off grass!!
