      • Evan,
I can use any photos you care to post. I have several books but always looking. Hope to scale out my JHH F-4 someday which is 100% scale for EDF.
        Elbee,
You always come through in time of need. I need to shape the shroud to look more real. Sand, sand, sand

The reference I am using is Danny Coreman's "Uncovering the US Navy Q/F-4B/J/N/S Phantom".

It states that only the "B" had that version of Forward Looking Antenna and that was changed quite often during its' development.

I love this series by Coreman published through DACO.

I am looking for "Uncovering the US Navy F-14 Tomcat" in the published version, I have it in PDF, but prefer the hard copies.

I also have two of these F-4 Phantom books the second is NIB never been opened.

I found it online in England and ordered it thinking I didn't have a hard copy until I found mine about a week later

            Now for the shameless plug....

I would consider selling the new one if anyone is interested or trading for the good condition F-14 version.

$50.00 USD and I'll pay shipping to the continuous 48.

Less than I gave, I promise.

It is currently out of print, though DACO has rumored to reprint the Danny Coreman Series eventually.

            • Evan,
the Sundowner version I'm modeling had this ant housing. Thanks for the info. You probably have great stories to tell of your time served. Please post anything you see I'm doing wrong so I can correct them.

              Elbee,
The 3rd close-up is just what I need. I am going to make the point rounder.
              Best Regards, Rex.

              • I no I've said it b4,, but I don't care U guys in this case Rex!!! Absolutely an amazing amount of work on a foam aircraft.. some of those pics remind me of car restorations of mine in the past,, all the multi colour layers.. great job Rex.. I have pics of Steve's. U have a lot to live up to,, but I no it will be ever bit as high a standard... Great to C this thread up again

                • Thank you f4uausie. Steves models are miniature replicas of the real ones. I'm striving to get to those standards. I know they are foam, but my 1/5-1/4 scale models are very expensive to build today. Balsa prices are out of sight! I am finding that these scale models are fun to modify and fly in a good scale manner with the modifications.

Looking at my JHH F-4 today I forgot I had the ko-ku scale plans blown up to the JHH size many years ago. So I can scan and re-size for the FW F-4 and get a pattern for the housing, using Elbees photo I can get fairly close to the correct shape.

                  • The saw and knife came out again and I carefully cut off splitter intake and add new scale 3d one. A little filler and will look good. If you compare the new splitter with the other side, you can see the difference in the new one vs OEM.

There were a few mandatory areas that require a sharper, straighter, and more accurate part; the VIRs are one of those.

                      Looks great, Rex, great work.

Thanks to both you and f4u ausie for the kind words.

Watching your build has me thinking about doing another Phantom one day. In the mean time, I will live vicariously through you. Best, LB

                      • Elbee,
Hope you build another one soon. Love the Phantom.
A friend gave me a new 80mm FW edf and esc , he went with a turbine in his avanti. The FW A-4 ARF PLUS would be a good project for this. Maybe next year's project or E-Flite Gee BEE or? So many so little time left

Push comes to shove, I'll rework that AN-24 pod.

Let me know, b/c you'll have to cut the old one out and rebuild.

I have been doing a lot of things that take time but not worth posting. Today I finished getting the yellow stripes on the ejection handles. Not perfect but think they will suffice. Your thoughts, pro and con

I cut yellow electrical tape 1/16" wide x 1/2" long and used tweezers to wrap around. Tedious. Then sprayed with clear paint to hold it all in place.
