  • I finally re-maiden my SU-35 after installing FMS Pro fans. Wow! What a difference. I was able to take off in half the distance from a grass field. In the air, amazing thrust! Thanks Airguardian for recommending. I didn’t try TV but am planning for the next flight.

What rates are recommended as a good starting point for TV? I cure toy have everything to 100%.

I bought this pre-owned so it’s not in the best condition but she’s still photogenic.

I really hope this is a re-release soon.

I put the FMS PRO fans in mine over 2 years ago (Oct 2020). They certainly make a big diffrence.

If it is re-released expect it to be about a kilo heavier.

      • salali, good to see it went well!

I'd use max throws on the nozzles with the same expo that you are using for everything else.

If you are afraid of twitchiness, it's usually better to reduce control surface throws before you touch VT nozzles.
Then again, you can have them on an on/off switch if it causes you to be anxious so you can disable it if you don't like it when you turn it on, but that'd be rare.

Man...you are getting good! Your flying techniques almost look full scale! Love the way you invented a way to heat the air outa the tail pipes.
That's a nice scale effect, but i bet it is a battery hog. Dubbing in the turbine sound was a nice touch.

                                  • I know this is a discontinued bird at this point, but I want to give some mad props to AirGaurdian for his build video that was just amazing. I also want to thank the other contributors to this thread. I was fortunate enough to be one of the final few that was able to get this kit from Motion. It took me way to long to put this thing together and make all the modifications I had gathered and wanted to make on this plane. That all culminated into one of the best maiden flights I have had for a plane with the complexity this thing has this past weekend. Everything on separate channels and programmed in my Jeti radio taking in telemetry from the BEC/Mui/and stabilization. Took off with full thrust vectoring and tailerons. A couple clicks of trims and away we went. The speed envelope and maneuverability were just awesome. I was comfortable after just a few passes. Just an effortless landing as well.

Sad really that this bird is no longer available. So glad I made the investment. Can’t wait to be flying this thing again tomorrow morning.

This would be a great plane for Motion to consider for a comeback tour, just incorporate all the great updates from this group. What a great community. Thanks again All!

PS: My SMC HV packs are just a great setup running my FMS motor upgrade.

                                      .
Given what they did to the Eurofighter, I can't see a Version 2 made of EPO, and with all the bells and whistles that FW is putting on its recent offerings, coming in at under 4kg ready to go, probably more. Which is way more than the classic that we are flying.

                                      • Ok so I finally got around to making my latest version of the SU35 from all the spare body parts I had hiding in the loft and transferring most of the hardware from Sharp Nose Su. So it has the twin fms 3060 1900kv units I have used on the previous models, twin 80amp Hobbywing escs, separate BEC run on 2s 600mah lipo, Hobby Eagle A3 Super4 gyro on tailerons, ailerons and vts. and It did not need much aileron movement with the tailerons. All up weight with 820gm Admiral 5100mah 6s lipo comes in at 3550gms. I have uprated the mains oleos and wheels and use 5mm pins and have added a 13mm thick ply triangular restrain to the rear of the mains legs as per photo Hard to see with matching paint.. The nose oleo has larger, better wheels for my grass runway and is backed up with a 13mm thick ply triangular restraint set into the original groove for the stock restraint. Setup is basically as Air Guardian build and setup video including VT alignment, battery compartment mods, uprated stab servos etc. etc. I also have some additional air into the top of the battery bay as per 2nd photo below. Maiden flights went well at the weekend and I will be out again tomorrow !!!.
