Having flown extensively both the Freewing Gripen and the previous Eurofighter versions, I can tell they are totally different beasts. Overall performance of the Eurofighter is much better (or it was for the older models) in terms of agility, maneuverability, CG-centering, wing loading and potential thrust to weight ratio (with upgraded fans in both cases). Faster acceleration on the Eurofighter and much more aerobatic capabilities. Also better wing-rocking features on the Euro compared to the Gripen.

On the good side, the Gripen could knife edge with some 'insistence', the Euro, not so much. At least not without a gyro.

Euro also was much better at keeping debris away from the fan when operating from grass and gravel runways, and showed less problems with the landing gear and gear doors than the Gripen did.

Thank you, it sounds like I should probably go ahead and get this one.

Due to the lifting of Covid restrictions by the Chinese government, many workers at factories (including Freewing) have become sick. Additional to this, factories are beginning New Year's preparations tomorrow. Shipment of my Eurofighter has been delayed till Feb. 13. However, on a high note, some gifts (generous IMO) will be included with the plane when it gets shipped. Personally, I'm good with it. Gives me time to work on other projects before the flying season comes.
I don't know how this relates to Motion's ETA, but since their original estimate was mid-Feb to end of March, they may still be OK. I have a feeling that Motion had this contingency plan in their estimations just in case something like this came up.

        • I assume Anesthesia's will be delayed too. I know he was really wanting it way earlier than he could get it from Motion. For me, when it gets here it gets here...

Exactly! I got mine from RCC because I can usually bypass customs and brokerage and I'm not paying for shipping twice (once from Hong Kong to Motion - built into the purchase price, ie - "free shipping" to US customers and once from Motion to me). I'm happy to have it delayed and I don't mind paying in advance for something I really want. As we can see, RCC is "sold out" of their first allotment. I suspect Motion's first shipment may also be sold out by the time it hits US soil.
As far as "what's his name" at RC Guppy, he's very unpleasant, undesirable and whiney. I'm waiting for him to announce he's cancelling so RCC doesn't have his money for another month. That was the gist of his original complaint. 1.5 months vs 2.5 months vs 3.5 months (from MRC) ............................... Worst case scenario, I lost $2.00 in interest had I kept my money in my savings account and Raymond gained 2 bucks. I feel so cheated.

I hope it's not delayed into April, since we shall be gone all of April and most of May, with no-one home.

Totally agree. He has always treated us fairly and honestly. (So has MRC.)

For all of Motion's customers on this product, I also hope that is the case as well. Here's my take on it. I think that had RCC got their allotment, Motion's first allotment would have been sent to the ship docks about the same time frame. Had RCC shipped mine out today (which was the plan), Motion's would have been getting loaded into the container at the dock, then onto the ship. Once the ship is loaded up, it would have left port, likely to arrive on the western USA port, unloaded and trucked to Motion. This would have hit Motion's shipping/receiving near end of February, fitting into Motion's ETA of mid-Feb. to end of March, most likely just post mid-February.
Now, we have a 1 month delay, so pushing everything to the latter time frame, still within the original ETA range. If nothing else unforeseen happens in China, you might see your plane before you leave home. However, we've seen so many horrible events happen lately with weather, travel, new Covid strains, etc, it wouldn't hurt to keep fingers and toes crossed, hang up that horse shoe and dust off the old rabbit's foot. (It also depends on the type of sea shipping chosen for this sort of merchandise. It can take as little as 2 weeks to as long as 40 days.)

                  • I see the cancellations have begun @RC Guppy with this latest update. I suppose for some, this is a lot of money to have in limbo for so long.

                    • When they cancel it’ll push them into the second shipment… could be early to mid summer…

                      • Yup. I'll gladly leave my order stand. That lost interest earns me my place in the line.

                        • Has motion posted any pictures of 8s packs in the battery area? This is concerning to me as I have the feeling that this is going to be like the F-16 where I can't use large packs and get the strap around them. I pre-ordered the day they announced and am considering cancelling until they post pictures of the batteries in and the CG.

                          • They have posted pictures and you are comparing this new release to a plane from long ago, far far away. If you are that worried it probably is best to cancel.

                            • Battery placement is a concern but I believe it's a small concern. Even though pictures of 8s bats have been posted and it appears as though twin 4s are not a problem, there are always work arounds if you wish to use other battery sizes and combinations. The inability of an old plane's battery straps to wrap around doesn't necessarily mean this conveys to a new model. Even if it did, a longer battery strap can be made easily and battery compartment renovations are easily done, not to say any of this will be necessary for the new Eurofighter. However, if that is an overwhelming concern, then cancel. You can always get in on the second batch later in the year if it comes to that. RC Castle has sold out of their first batch. Who's to say Motion's first batch won't be sold out by the time the boat reaches LA.

                                • He's comparing it to a plane that came out 9 years ago and was never designed for 8S. Enough said. Silly to be worried about it and if he is that worried simply wait.

Where exactly have the posted pictures? All I am looking for is to see how the batteries fit in the plane and that CG can be achieved. As far as anything else, I am confused as to why motion RC is dedicating so much time to the 6s version when they are selling both (yes, I know that they only have the pre-production 6s but the airframe is exactly the same as the 8s). If there are pictures please post a link to them as I would love to see them.

                                      • There are pictures one page back. But it’s of 8s in the only plane Motion has so there is no way to know balance. The 6 and 8s fans weigh different.

                                        • Wes MRC James any chance of a few pictures or a little video of more of the intricacies of the model just to keep us all titillated? not asking for a big presentation but a few quick pics of say looking into the tail pipes, a shot of the power system with the hatch off, the detail on the instrument panel in the cockpit. bits and pieces of interest that you might not see from the videos that are already out?

I understand if its not possible and how unlikely I just wanted to suggest it as the forums around this plane are going a bit stagnant, off topic and are starting to fill up with the usual disagreements
