according to fedex tracking, mine made it 49 miles in 12 hours have a feeling its not going to get here wed as listed as delivery date but we shell see

well as usuall fedex under estimates delivery day...after being enroute for 20 hours it made memphis a 7 hr drive according to google

I have 2 Admiral 6s 5000mah Batts that are about 100 grams heavier than the recommended 4000mah, and I'm wondering if anyone thinks the extra 100 grams would be a problem.

Will not be a dramatic difference joshc011 with the 5000's. Sure a little weight addition may take a tiny bit off your top-end speed, she will still fly beautifully.

Trying to decide between the Vulcan and the E-flite Ultimate 3D (biplane). Would be exact same price as I have a set of batteries for either frame. I'm ready to try an EDF, but the field I use that's closest to me is probably too rough for the Vulcan and the biplane I could fly from just about anywhere.

I assume by saying that you have batteries for either you know they are different in what they use. As far as 5000 in the Vulcan my opinion is different than what James just said (mine is sitting in my dining room having just been delivered). Extra weight typically does not effect top speed. It will effect over all flying quality and vertical, a heavier airplane flies, well... heavy. But, and the main reason for the post is that extra weight will effect take offs and especially if flying off grass. And that's if the larger/ heavier battery will fit and balance which I assume if anyone would know James would.

But let me add that they are two very different aircraft. I would say both would require very short grass with the Vulcan being a bit better off grass. I also want to add that I have become quite opinionated about HH, they discontinue aircraft quickly and have comparatively higher aircraft and replacement parts prices (if you can even get them). About the only aircraft they sell that I would consider is the Avanti which is an excellent trainer and worth the price.

Yeah, two completely different aircraft types joshc011. You have to decide what type of flying you want to do and go with the aircraft that suits that. As far as your "rough" field, there is really no way for me to know how the Vulcan would handle it to make an informed decision. I would be merely guessing.

I will say, without cheater holes on the bottom of the Vulcan, it will be more favorable on rougher fields than other EDFs where debris could more easily get ingested into the fan.

I am very very impressed with the Vulcan. The first thing that I saw in the online pictures is the silver canopy which I assumed was just silver paint, it’s not, it’s a plastic canopy over the foam, very nice. I’m unboxing mine I don’t see anything I don’t like. Very well done Free Wing and Motion RC.

I know there was a delay over the boxes. I think the original box would have been just fine for 99% of the shipments.

Evan D I totally agree with you about HH in general.
My most recent aircraft have been the Nexa F6F from motion, and the PA Addiction X. Both experiences have been a step up (or 2) from HH in terms of quality and support.
If I get the Vulcan I will probably only be flying off the paved runway @ RCSMP or Floyd Bennett in Brooklyn.

Mine is built and ready for tomorrow. Complaints are super minor. The decals that are sticky back had to be smoothed back down at the ends, super minor but I hope they stay down, may have to tape the ends. The other is the best alignment for the elevator and rudder pushrods. To get the best alignment they need to go into the servo arm from the rear and to do that I had to pull the servo covers and the servos out.

Both these things are very nit picky, the quality is that good!

Oh, and I put a 7ch receiver in for separate steering adjustment. There are really cool spots in the turtle deck to put the receiver if you are putting it towards the rear. I didn't use the BB and used Y's for the Ailerons, flaps and elevators and a triple for the LG. I put a satellite in the nose gear retract well. I am using a 575g 5000 pack and was surprised by the size of the battery bay and that I didn't have to shove it way back to balance. Nice engineering.

Glad you like it thus far Evan D. I wasn't sure what to expect when alpha said this was next but I was pleasantly surprised opening the box. It looks really nice coming out and couldn't be more straightforward as far as assembly and organizing the wiring etc.

Ditto what Evan said. Very well packaged. Only had the end of one decal sticking out. The finish is very good. Haven't started putting mine together yet, decided to put on a coat of clear water based p/u first.

Got my Vulcan yesterday and have it ready for maiden tomorrow. While the Flaps have plastic hinges already installed all other control surfaces do not. I applied hinge tape to the A, E and R. There is a bag with plastic hinges in it, optional. You will need to plug all your servo leads to the Blue Board. There is no mention of the Blue Board in the manual and how to plug in but it was not hard to figure it out.

Low level heat with hobby iron sticks back decals, try on spare foam to ensure temp is not too high to bubble foam

I wondered about that, I have sprayed clear canopies silver from the inside before using spare car wheel aerosol to get similar finish. Cheaper and lighter than pilots and leaves more space for batteries and radio gear out of view. Also less prone to accidental damage using the foam carcass. !

These are a bit different, they are the chrome strips... They did not stay stuck checking on them this morning. I did a light dab of the glue that FW includes in most kits, I find it perfect for things like this and as a thread locker for screws into plastic, and other uses...
