  • It flies well. I up’ed all the throws and put the ailerons on the outer hole of the servo and @130%. Also had it balanced 5mm behind book. My ailerons were too touchy..

But it flew great and really wrung it out. Bad day with lots of wind and turbulence but it’s good. Also flew the Avanti so I could compare… the Avanti flies nicer… but not much. It is quite fast and surprisingly quiet. Timer was set for 5 but I landed early during a break in the wind and still had 60% on a 5000.

      • Evan we tryed mine today also. It had dificulty getting airborn at cg. Moved the 3300 back 3/8 in tryed it again with no wind and full up elevator it got airborn. Moved battery back to about 1 in from the tray forward hole and dropped flaps to full it took off nice flying. Tryed 3 takeoffs all much better with full flaps. First takeoff attemps when it did get airborn broke hard right just off ground. Much better with full flaps.
we tryed take offs with take off flaps. No go. Tryed with no flaps. No go. So we tryed full flaps and we got 3 good take offs. U got me. Im stumped. Maybe a longer nose gear strut would take some of the negative insidence out for grass take offs

        • 3/8" behind is a little more than where I did my maiden and then I moved it another 5-7 and then another 3-5mm so I think I'm about 3/4" behind the wire channel which is where the molded mark is and I am still moving it back. As I said it was a very bumpy day yesterday so I didn't want to go too far back. I didn't fly today (gun day) but plan on a bunch of flying tomorrow. I fly off pavement so it may make a big difference. The plane has a very definite nose down stance on the ground which probably makes take offs on grass worse.

          • Ya pavement makes a big difference in speed with these crazy planes. F86 would not takeoff today either it is short grass but super thick. Both planes have fairly small wheels and wind was calm

Yes please! Maybe James can go into the parts department and find something like this https://www.motionrc.com/products/fr...zle-fj21111092 and let us know

                  • Ok, so I ran 10 batteries through the new vulcan in the last 2 days, and I have to say overall- I really like it. That said, it has the scariest stall/ spin tendencies of any jet I've owned. I did a sort of crazy vertical "snap" thing, idled back, and as it fell nose down, it started to spin violently, one way, then the other, and I fought it hard for several seconds to save it. Odd, I do this maneuver with my bae hawk and Avanti all the time, and its super easy to recover. I did notice there is much less washout than the avanti and hawk, maybe that's the reason? Tomorrow I may take it up really high, and see what happens with a normal power off stall and (hopefully) recovery. Can anyone else who may have flown theirs comment on stall/ recovery?

                    • I did straight stall attempts and couldn't get it to drop a wing and did many high speed vertical snaps which were easy to recover from. I'll try some more tomorrow.

                      Where are you balancing at?

Hi Evan, I have a HRB all the way back, just slightly nose heavy in regards to called out balance marks. Inverted, it seems to fly just about right, so I'm thinking its not tail heavy. Maybe I should be sure, and put batt a bit more forward, Yes, please let me know if you experience that tomorrow- thanks for reply!

                        • I'm balanced about 3/4" behind the mark so a lot further back from you. I wonder if that is why we are getting different results.

Interesting- and I meant to say using HRB 4000 batt. So yeah- 3/4" behind the mark, I would have thought that would be really tail heavy..but apparently it's working really good for you. Maybe I need to try a heavier liperior pack I own.

                            • I am not that experienced with jets yet but I flew my Vulcan today for the first time. I had three flights with no issues. I found it easy to fly and land.

If someone will provide the OD and ID dimensions of the (unfinished) rear end I can quite quickly create a STL file for a 3D printed nozzle to fit.

                                • Decided as I had an extra set of Williams racing theme decals from Callie lying around- why not use them on this jet. Have to say, I just love the profile of this jet, nicer than most of the other sport jets IMO- I know, it's like art, very subjective....

                                  • Yeah no weird stuff… here is a pic of where mines balancing, the mold mark in the center of the picture next to the gear plastic mount towards the center line.

Speed… I got to fly it along a friends 8s Avanti and the Vulcan is faster. I am good at speed retention though.

Ok thanks, and yeah- the speed is impressive, even at 1/2 throttle it zips along. It looks like I can shove my batt further back, and I can get CG about 1/2" aft of where it is now. I will have to try that next flight. Come to think of it- I did end up with about 6 or more clicks of up getting it dialed in first flight, so it probably was a bit nose heavy. I'm impressed it beat an 8S Avanti!
