Thanx X ye. .. that helps looots. ..and yep. An 8 channel as3x receiver spectrum is $250 bucks. Quart the price of a plp jet. B safe -
I've found with this plane, using those air brakes really helps to slow it down. I flip them open on final. They also seem to help me to keep the nose up a bit on landing. Keep a bit throttle once the brakes open up as the plane does slow down noticeably. Once touch down happens, throttle off and those air brakes help again. I use reverse just for dramatic effect but occasionally for added braking if I don't touch down early enough.
Flaperons can also help to slow down on final but just be careful not to dial in too much flap or you could overdrive the aileron servos if you need lots of travel for roll correction. Tailerons are handy if you want more roll or crisper rolls but I find them to be just a bit too much for me, so I use a lot of expo and reduced rates on AIL for just flying around.
Insofar as the receiver goes, I use the Lemon 10-ch stabilized RX with telemetry in many of my planes. Must have the satellite for insurance. The Lemon is so much cheaper than even the 8-ch Spektrum. For all of the things you want to try, 8-ch is good. The Spektrum 10-ch costs way too much for my liking.
When I first started to do flaperons and tailerons, I always wondered where the heck to I plug all those leads in. Hint: once you select the aircraft type (ie, flaperon or 2 AIL, taileron, etc.), go to the main screen and roll to see the "monitor". Work the sticks and watch the bars move. That will tell you which channel to plug which thing into. Eg. If you have flaperons and you work the AIL stick, you'll see which channel bars move. That tells you that one aileron goes into the AIL port and you'll see the other channel that the other aileron goes into (likely the flap port). Same goes for each elevator lead when you work the AIL and ELE stick. When you open the "flap" menu, you can also see those bars move when you throw the flap switch.Leave a comment:

Thanx Evan xviper said same(ar631) don't need reverse so 8 channels is it worth the effort in your opinion.. 4 me not so much about the scale effect.. mainly bit more slow down on final.. I'm happy way it fliesLeave a comment:

I would never use that receiver in anything bigger than a 64mm jet. I believe in satellites. This jet is a 6ch jet without extra mixes like tailerons or flaperons. Throttle, ailerons, elevators, rudder and steering, retracts, and reverse. Add a channel for flaperons or tailerons and you have to remove one of the basic six. Want the basic six and flaperons = 7. Add tailerons = 8. Add separate steering = 9.Leave a comment:

Whew! Luckily it didn't rotate! Good luck with your mixing. If you find out how to do it let me know because I've been meaning to do that forever!Leave a comment:

Firstly. Need to replace my ar631 Rx because I pull the 1 wire thru the fuse behind the latch then glue .. a mistake.. after near disaster.. was about to rotate and lost power,,around 25 meters from me... After range check. Discovering the 1 wire on rx had pulled out of itself.. lucky,, was b4 rotation...
I'm sure that happened. With flex in the fuse.. ifit was not glued it would not have pulled out..
anyway will replace. It. Sooo. Thinking about flaperons and tailerons.
Hope I got the correct names?? Will b a first setup 4 me like this ..and getting out of my comfort zone.. so can I do it with 6 channel Rx. Or is 8 req. I'm using an nx7 which has been upgraded for plus Rx s. Here is the best part. I have no god damb idea how to do it.. make it simple cause I'm stupid
.
And will it fly differently. And land slower
boy thatwas an effort on my fone. Thanx

Just bit of a report..
. After nearly crashing :: turning to final.. the 1100 grams of HRB was to heavy 🪨.. did fly very well... Went back to 6s for a bit, but struggling to get off the grass.. also to fly well on 6 U need alot of throttle.
. Sooo. 2 HRB 4000 4 s and back in with the 8s fan.. vwalla magic.... They way 800 grams big difference...
Great balance of power and weight.. and flys well at 50 percent throttle a safe new year to allLeave a comment:

That's where the difference is when using Spektrum. "0" is a mid-point on a switch travel. If it's at position "0", it doesn't really know which way to go. It could stay on forward or reverse, depending on where it started when the battery is plugged in. The danger being that while flying, position "0" is confusing for a Spektrum set up where it needs to see the far ends of the range (IE, -100 or +100), thus having the possibility of going the other way. It would be horrible for it to go into reverse while flying with no way to bring it back to forward. The only option would be to shut down the throttle and dead stick it in.
Good thing you confined your search to your radio system.Leave a comment:

So…. Concerning my issues with reverse thrust, Xviper was attempting to give me direction/help on a couple weeks ago…. Finally after ?x’s hours, it’s working. Hopefully this may help someone else running Freewing f16 v2 8S with TX16S to ER8 rx. It was a combination of being brand new to the hobby/life, a flat learning curve, and NO idea how to achieve what I wanted other than all in determination to figure it out. There were no instructions anywhere, believe me. MotionRC gave me a YouTube video to set up the initial 2 channels, but I had that figured out already. So, the programming literature I had for the ESC read option 3 on programming for reverse thrust but was actually option 4. Once that was finally established and learning Morse code for the Tx programming , lol, I saw a small glimmer of possibility. The channel set up wasn’t bad. It was channel 3 throttle with -100 to 100 with the same for reverse set on channel 7 (for me) -100 to 100 and assigned to (SH) momentary switch . The mix was an issue with no trim on channel 3, but channel 7 had to have -78 trim!!!!! It was the key to tell the ESC that it’s supposed to reverse when momentary switch was activated. Time well invested, a headache or 3, and a 6c battery I took below 2.8v was the cost, but worth it. Hopefully this can help someone else using TX16S.Leave a comment:

Airgardian. Is your F16 6 or 8s. Great flying.. I expect U have the cg back???Leave a comment:

As I suspected. Getting a manual for this ESC is very simple. All I did was go to the "support" tab in the MotionRC webpage for this plane. All you need to know about programming the ESC using the TX and beep tones. It's a PDF file. So, upon further investigation, the ESC for my f16 is programmed at the factory and shipped with the reverse thrust off. They don’t make a programmer for this reverse thrust ESC so I’ll have to attempt it with the radio. I get some may not need it but then in those cases, just leave the reverse lead unplugged. If it were easy…..
Thanks for the help for this noob, everyone.
