If you have nose steering going to the MCBe steering is turned off with the gear retracted. Otherwise it's probably the plug is in the wrong slot on the MCBe or backwards.

Pg 10 elevator throw is measured at the front.

The plane is heavy flying. Either a super hot 6S (stock isn't) or a 8S with very light batteries.

The 90 and 70 are very different.

Mine is over an inch aft of the marks but fly it on the marks and decide what YOU want to do. I don't use a gyro.

As always viper thanx 4 the detailed info. I have both options 8 o4 6s.. it's a grass field.
I did a fast taxi test Sunday. 6s. And I thought maybe the 8. However my friends 70 mm F16 gets off... So will go with factory CG.... My r thrust is on the bind button and soon as U hit it it's 100 percent reverse and full. On release back to whatever ya throttle setting was... Works awsome.. thanx to high for that tip.. and thankyou again

Please take what I say with a grain of salt as it's quite personal and localized practice. There are 4 of these models at our field, all of which belong to a very close knit group of friends. NONE of us fly this thing "behind" the mark. All of us fly it AT the mark (give or take a few mm either way). I'm not sure where this "tail heavy" business originated from but I have a fairly good idea. I believe it started from someone who came from a 3D background and thus, is accustomed to and almost demands the rearward CG. This background translates into the "need" to fly "high alpha" at will and most of the time. We have no difficulty flying high alpha or landing in a nose high attitude with the marked CG.
Throws are measured as per the diagrams in the manual, so in the case of the ELE, yes, from the front next to the fuse. The book indicates HIGH and LOW rates. Most of us use Spektrum and the switches have 3 positions, so I dial in a bit lower for low rate, a bit higher for high rate and in between for mid-rate. After your first flight (try mid-rate), you will know fairly quickly which rate for which control surface feels best for you, as will the CG that you chose. On high AIL, this thing will roll like drill bit, so be careful. Test cautiously.
When landing, on final, I open up the speed brakes. That sets the tone for the remaining "glide path". If you use reverse, make sure you test it before take off and have the voice programmed. It's not hard to have the switch in reverse at the start of the flight and then throw it into forward after landing. (When the switch is in reverse on power up, it defaults to forward. When you throw the switch the other way after landing, you think it's going into reverse, but you are actually staying in forward. The switch needs to be reset if it's in reverse to start with.) My buddy drove his F-16 nearly full throttle into the end fence.
Finally, the nose strut pin is very weak on this model. Almost all of us have sheared that pin after landing and running into the grass at the side or end of the runway. Unless you have a lathe to make your own pins, a new front strut is almost a guarantee (~30 bucks each). Note that we have a geotex runway with a sharp lip going up onto grass, PLUS, we have a lot of gopher holes and mounds everywhere. Hit something like that, your nose strut is a goner.
PS, I'm on 8s. My buddies are 6s. One was on 8s, didn't like it and reverted to 6s system. If flying off grass, it has a hard time getting off the ground before the end of the runway. I'm the only one who flies occasionally off grass.
