I would get the plastic from a local hobby store, but ePlastics seems to be a good site.

If you have room, and depending on how much you plan to make, you can always source an old oven from a scrap yard, or a big box store that is just throwing them away. 3D printed gunship nose in work

Hi guys! Just received my model yesterday and got started immediately with assembly. Everything went well all the way thru getting the Lemon 10-channel receiver installed and the gyros working properly. THEN I pushed the throttle up just a little to stop the transmitter lack-of-use tone.....and POP, smoke started coming out of the right nacelle. I managed to get the battery disconnected pretty quick, but the residual smoke was awful. I remember in several earlier posts reports of this happening. I disassembled the nacelle (not fun with the LG struts) and pulled the ESC. It was fried. Looks like the capacitors may have failed or something like that. I'm no electronics guru. I have a customer service ticket in with MRC and am waiting for their response. I wonder if they have a QC problem with these particular ESCs.

After seeing the posts here, I contacted Motion for guidance on how to best manage this ESC fire issue before I powered up the model. They claimed it was rare, but that I should video the plane in case something should occur. I did that for a few minutes of ground testing and will repeat for the maiden.

For those who have had ESC fires, it's not rare enough! There have been enough reports that this should be be recognized by Motion as a product issue. Failure to address product issue undermines customer satisfaction and confidence in the brand. In the long run sales, margins and profitability will suffer. This one should be easy to recognize with a couple photos. I encourage those who experience this issue to post photos as this will encourage Motion to address it.

Yeah - credible reports of any of those spontaneously bursting into flame without warning (especially the wife😀) would give me pause. I got the B-25 on preorder so now I am left to manage the issue best I can.

Invested a good amount of my time in making cosmetic alterations for mine. If this thing goes up in flames due to defective ESCs, I am gonna be pissed for sure.

My work is very involved in proactively dealing with product issues for industrial equipment. We dominate the markets we serve because of our focus on customer satisfaction/success. Of course this colors my expectations when I spend my money.

Just received a reply from MRC on the service ticket after only 1 day. They apologized for the problem and suggested that I check the battery Y-harness, too. Mine seems fine. They will replace the fried ESC, of course.

I have a spare 60 amp ESC from a fliteline P-38 that is labelled as including the BEC. Would this be safe to use as a substitute?

I installed the spare ESC and removed the red wire since the remaining ESC powers the radio. Maidened the model today and it was a huge success! Stable, controllable, no problems. I even had to tone down the elevator throws that I had set high due to a previous post worrying about enough elevator authority. I'm very pleased.

Just about to maiden the B25. I notice that the 2 propellers are not interchangeable ( standard and reverse ).So how can I tell if I have the propellers on the correct sides ?

I would go to Motions website and watch their build video and match up the angle of the blades. That's one of the things I did after my frightening first flight. I thought I had the wrong prop or props on the wrong side. After calibrating the ESC's the plane flies good now.

I recall there was at least one comment about working on the solid nose and even a partial CAD Drawing.

I looked back through the tread about half way and couldn't find the post.

Might check Thingiverse, Cults3D, Prusa Printables, and Cgtrader websites to see if anyone has posted a design for 3DP printing one.

Looking for paint. In response to post 422 about paint colors, it didn't mention which green was specifically for the B-25 or I just missed it. Any thoughts?
