I have done a lot of business with RC Castle for many years when parts/airplanes were not available domestically, like MRC. In the past, things moved along pretty well, about 15 days or so. But not now.

Interesting, I have not ordered in a month or so but like your previous experiences, my other four orders from RC Castle this year have come in about 10 business days to South Carolina.

Yes, at $139 USD it is less expensive, though there will still be duty/shipping to pay.

It is a nice looking unit and saves on the design/printing time.

    Dave,

Check post number-492 by Flyer Phill.

There is a link that is working for me anyway.

I tried to post the vendor link and it will not open.

I figure it is too long.

Thanks, Steve. I was able to pull it up now. Not right away, but possibly a winter project, I am considering buying a stock P-51 cockpit aside from the OEM one that I fly now, and buy and install the detailed cockpit to see how that comes out. One interesting thing on the gunsight that comes with it, it seems to be a lighted image of the reticle on the HUD, and is a K-14A gunsight. That late model gunsight made it into ships starting in the summer of 1944. I might use that one, although more accurate would be modding my printed N9 gunsight that Danger Dan designed and add the light onto that gunsight to reflect it onto the clear angled glass screen.

It looks to me that you would still need to use a modified pilot (without the bottom half to fit into the cockpit ok, similar to what I did with my 3D printed pilot for my OEM cockpit.

I have seen this modified detailed cockpit interior for sale on RC Castle out of Hong Kong. It is considerably cheaper than Ali Baba, but haven't looked into it that much yet.

I also like the idea of going to a larger, more scale prop similar to what I did with my FMS 1.5M P-47s. The underscale OEM prop on the 1.6M P-51 doesn't bother me, yet, but I might change my mind on that as I get better flying this one.

    Hey all,

You know how much I like building cockpits.

Saw this post and link in the 'other' forum.

    Really very cool, IMHO.

Hi Elbee: I went to the link I think you were referring to on a cockpit at the "other" website. When I tried to pull it up, it just came up as a "404" page and never came up with anything on it. Do you have another link that I could use to see what you're talking about?

    Thanks,

    Davegee

I have not read through all 25 pages of comments, my apologies. My Flightline P-51 is a bit of a pooch at full throttle, does anyone have a recommended upgrade to the Flightline 390KV motor? One that has been tried...
    Thanks!

Takes off at half throttle and cruises nicely at half throttle as it used to at FULL throttle. Went vertical at wasn't slowing down at 600 feet so I turned back down as my high altitude altimeter warning was having a conniption fit. I'm sure the motor from the new Flightline 1600mm would also be a decent upgrade, but I can say for certainty that the Power 60 is "The Bomb". Have now idea how fast it was but it sure turned the absolute least favorite plane to fly in my hangar into a real keeper. A Hangar 9 gas powered P-51 could not keep up with me. I know it was extremely fast as from 3/4 throttle to full throttle level flying my seemingly modest aileron rate gain setting of 38% on the gyro was too much and had to dial it down to 22%, unhear of in my stable of WWII tail draggers.

Am I Happy with the upgrade? Like a pig in Still intend on getting the Flightline 1600mm P-51 as it looks to be an awesome aircraft.

Good to hear, Hugh! Back in the day, I used to have the Corsair, P-47, and P-51 in 1700mm size and they were pretty doggy, especially at my altitude of 6,000' MSL. Glad to hear you have success with your new Corsair! Good on 'ya!

    Cheers

Hi BL_41: interesting. That is the same spot where one of my gear broke. I ended up buying two retracts and all the landing gear struts, wheels, etc. That's overkill, but they didn't have just the struts for sale, and besides I can have them in reserve for any future "accidents." That's strange that they had a weird size, for sure. They should have standard size for all of us who work with these things.

    Thanks for the input.

    Cheers

Hi Rex: thanks. I didn't have problems flying at dawn or dusk for many years, but the other day, it became a problem, really, for the first time. Doesn't help that I'll be 72 in less than a month! I still don't wear glasses for near or far objects, but it's best to dial it back a bit to better lighting conditions to help ensure safe flying. The P-51 will be just fine. I just wish MRC wasn't so short of key parts. Maybe lots of other pilots are having similar problems getting used to this new airplane??

    Cheers
