I would worry about the stock motor on 8s. It may not last "flat out" for "short". Also, would the stock prop assembly hold up?

Curious what would you replace to go 8S. ESC and batteries are a given. Prop? Motor? Add a BEC?

just kidding. I know this thing is obviously over the line cost-wise for most of us. But I’m still in for 8s if there is a decent and reasonable solution. I’m too busty to do my own legwork right now. Perhaps… Later this summer I might find the time. if no one else beats be to it. Come on guys.. someone beat me to it…

First it’s FreeWing/ Flightline. Motion just sells them. I fly mine with a 5300 HV and it has just about unlimited vertical. This is not a pylon racer. I fly mostly half throttle and get 12 minutes.

Maybe I need HV packs. Not a pylon racer? Come on!

Did you need to adjust anything on the Esc for the high voltage as I was thinking of using my Turnigy Bolt 5400

I have flown mine on a BoltX 5400mah fine, I even left the xt90 on it and put an ec5 adapter on the pack which I normally don't like doing

No. Just use it like any other LiPo.

I maidened mine yesterday and my impression is this plane needs 8s! Motion should offer a plug and play 8s system that would fit the prop backplate.

Flying mostly at 1/2 throttle with the ability to go almost unlimited vertical at full power on the stock 6S power system will likely meet a majority of the buyer needs. And...8 to 12 minutes is plenty good for most folks.

In my experience, 8S is overkill for this well balanced (performance) fun flyer...not intended to be a pylon racer.

Understood and the Spitfire price has risen due to that inflation from $349 to now $469. But I repeat, my opinion that $660 is excessive.

You are not the only one with that opinion. I have both models but If I did not have a 1600mm Spitfire or a 1600mm Mustang and was looking to buy then which would I choose and the answer for 99% of people would have to be the Spitfire as under normal circumstances I would not pay the $200 uplift ( Spitfire plus 50%) The only reason I bought the Mustang is because I had an old Lanyu 1450mm Mustang as my go to warbird for 10 years, I even added my own drop tanks and egg bomb mechanism which I used on fun fly day competitions at my local club and the 1600 Mustang was a good replacement choice for me . Also while I can get the Spitfire into the back of my UK size MPV ( van with windows ) I would have struggled with the Mustang ( Spitfire pointed wings fit ok ) so went for the push button wings, pretty lights and updated landing gear. I was going to cancel my order for the Mustang because of doubts over the wing mounting mechanism but decided to go ahead anyway as I figured I could probably fix the issue and yes I did have to fix it. I understand there are other costs and improvements that have been made ( battery loading and release is a good one ) I suppose the only way to look at the cost is in comparison to other Motion r.c. models of 2026.or ask yourself how much do I want this one ? It was touch and go with this one for me but I have to say it does fly well. If anyone asks me which would I buy and fly it would be the Spitfire.

Well I look at it as inflation. What year did the Spitfire come out? 8 years ago or so? Not only do we get new tech and amenities with these models but you factor in general inflation over the years. Look at gas prices, food at the store, etc..

I would love it if this wonderful model was more affordable to more people. It's just sadly the nature of inflation among many other factors.
