Elbee,
Ordered my cowl and canopy from Sarik in Jan. Total cost was $33.00 shipped, not bad. I am using scraps from my balsa kit leftovers as most of the formers are small pieces built to a whole, never throw things away. I've even got a sawdust box for filler, I know ..... I'm crazy!
FMS P-47 motor, and prop would be a good choice, you will need weight of the 6sbatt. up front for balance.
Cut your own parts and enjoy the ole- time journey.
Best Regards, Rex

I know, right?!
Below is link to Brian Taylor's Kawanishi N1K2 "George" Shindin Kai short kit and spares.
One of Brian Taylor’s earlier designs, this iconic Japanese WWII fighter is available on two well-detailed sheets and builds into a 62” 1:7.4 scale replica.
Sarik Hobbies in the UK has the rights, any prices you see might include their VAT, but those are eliminated at checkout for US Customers.
It is my hope to do the the Tempest in this lifetime
, I have had these parts since he offered the original back in those wonderful 'days of yore'.
I agree with you about these being the perfect electric project.
The George is a looker for sure.
Best, LB

So little time. Elbee, the Tempest would be a great electric model. As a matter of fact, I have BT Japanese George plans, canopy and cowl on the table now. The FMS P-47 landing gear is almost a perfect fit. The motor and prop from the P-47 would be good power and prop is almost the correct scale. In between finishing P-47 I have been cutting parts. All of BTaylors 60 size plans are great for today's electrics. Hope you will do a build here on the Tempest

Ain't it the truth, Brother!
I'd love to do a "Tropical Spitfire".
Can't think of a reason not to do one, really.
Except the money and I have a Spit/Seafire....but....
If FlightLine doesn't do another fighter soon, I'd consider it,
I have been thinking about building the Brian Taylor Tempest MkV.
I have many parts and most of the pieces from 'days of yore' and there is 'wood short kit' available for about 2/3rds the estimated price of a new FlightLine fighter.
Like you wrote, so many mods, so many airplanes, so little time.
Best, LB

Got the 3D parts all ready to be installed, even modded the port side so that the door is there as well as the crow bar. I have it sitting together, not glued into place, I have some rigging to do for the seatbelt aka Elbee, and some more painting on the pilot, probably get everything installed on the weekend.
Old Screwball, 'Buzz' Buerling was a thought as well, but to really represent him, you should do a Mk Vb with the Mediterranean air scoop. He did go on to fly in the ETO briefly, but best known for his Malta service.
Ah, so many mods, so little time....

How about George screwball Beurling, Canadian, famous ace RAF ETO and MTO, Malta.Originally posted by Grossman56 View PostHe's getting there. I had thought of modeling the airplane after Douglas Bader, since the pilot also lost both legs, but Douglas had an aversion to cannons and kept to machine guns, meaning I'd have to yank the cannons on this one like I did on my first Spitty. Nah, I like the cannons, sorry Dougie!
If I change the call letters, I'd like to find a Canadian pilot from the Vancouver area, I think that would be a nice homage to my birth city and a Canadian veteran.
Btw, I did a surgery on the control stick, I removed my spade and inserted Elbee's, looks great!!

Grossman56,
Your pilot is looking fantastic. Are you doing a complete airframe makeover also?

If they (and their pilots) hadn't done their job in 1940 the world would be a very different place today.Originally posted by Grossman56 View PostMan, if anyone wants a moment when you choke up at the sight of, well you'll see. Looking for a Spitfire paint scheme? Check this out:

For a while in the '70s I lived just 4 miles from Duxford. We saw lots of interesting stuff.

Grossman56,
Sounds like you have an addiction pretty bad. Learning new skills at our young ages is quite exciting. I'm working on some P-47 alum. spinner hubs today. Brain waves being put to use.

Started in painting the Max Greuter RAF pilot for the Spitfire. While experimenting around with the scale of the pilot, Dave created a pilot body that looks like the right scale for a 1200mm Bearcat.
Damn this is addicting! I'll NEVER have a Porcelain Pete again...

Nice parts, Sir.
Designing in T-CAD does take time.
I just like it, I've used Blender and Mesh Mixer to smooth parts and fix issues post TinkerCAD, but the STL files get enormous in a hurry.
I have used Prusa Slicer to simplify the file after, it works fairly well, but again files are large.
I like T-CAD, and once you get a work flow, it is simpler than designing the same part in Fusion.
I am no Fusion expert, but it is also an awesome program, just going to need to use it more.
Best, Steve

I've been using TinkerCAD for some time. You can do a lot with it if you take the time. Nearly all the stuff here was done with TinkerCAD: https://www.thingiverse.com/kallend/designs
