Good to hear, Grossman56! I held down the fort at our field in Cody and got a couple of good flights in with my Spittie to honor the occasion. I'm sure next year, you'll be able to participate, per usual! Good to hear the eye surgeries have gone well!

Grossman56, awesome report, so glad to know you're truly on the mend. Perhaps, we should start calling you EagleEye56. Best, LB

TOTALLY agree with you, F4UAussie! As long as people like you and I are around, these heroes won't be forgotten. After us, I don't know...

Thank you for honoring both the accomplishment and one of the war's many heroes.

ps: great movie about Polish WWII Hurricane aviators: "Mission of Honor" 2018, a must watch IMHO.

Also, listed as "Hurricane" the original title.
Hi LB: I found "Mission of Honor" on You Tube and watched it. Really thought it captured a lot of what they went through during their time with the RAF. I had seen parts of it some time ago, but got to watch the whole thing today without disturbance. Well done acting and special effects.

    Cheers

Thanks, Elbee. I have to give a lot of credit to Dan Gross, a frequent contributor to Hobby Squawk, and a fellow member of our little RC flying club here in Cody. He's a Canadian by birth and a naturalized US citizen. He has a lot closer ties to the RAF/RCAF histories of WWII.

One of Lanny Lanowski's best friends and fellow fighter pilot from Poland was Boleslaw "Mike" Gladych. Mike's family was murdered by the Nazis at the start of WWII in Poland, and he barely escaped with his life, to fight another day. Mike bore a huge diagonal scar across his face, I think when he rammed a German pilot from behind when Mike had run out of bullets. He chopped the tail off of the German fighter and debris came flying through his windscreen hitting him in the face. This knocked him out but somehow the plane glided to a crash landing with him unconscious!
Mike wouldn't paint a victory symbol on his plane unless he knew he had killed the pilot! These were tough hombres and very good at their trade. They had a big personal score to settle with the Nazis.

I think I got to see the "Mission of Honor" movie you speak of, but if I see it again on tv, I will be sure to watch it again. From what I recall, it was very good.

Here's a picture of Lanny's squadronmate Mike Gladych who also came over to the 56th Fighter Group to fly P-47s until the end of the war.

In honor of the Battle of Britain Day, September 15, 1940 when the RAF defended to the max its country of England against the German Luftwaffe, I took my Flightline Spittie out for a quick flight this morning. Have a ton of housework to do today and tomorrow we're out of town all day, so it was short, but sweet. This model I bought when they first came out in about 2017. I've flown a ton of flights on it in the past 7+ years, almost all original equipment except for the occasional tire replacement.

I modified my plane to the markings of Witold "Lanny" Lanowski, a Polish ace who flew in Poland, France, and then England with the RAF, and eventually with the American 56th Fighter Group in WWII. His son is a friend of mine who still lives in England This is really an homage to Lanny and his brave and fierce combat skills used against the Germans during WWII.

I took a couple of pics this morning.

Super! Your vision should continue to improve in the next few days.

I flew my Spittie today in anticipation of BOB day September 15!

    Cheers

Excellent. My wife had one eye done in July and the other one 10 days ago. She says she sees better now at all distances than ever before. She had the multifocal lenses implanted.

How different the world would be if the Battle of Britain had gone the other way.

Hopefully the weather is good. I'm having eye surgery on the 5th and the 19th, so I'll have at least one good eye for the flights

I threw one away last week when a friend gave me his crash remains. I may have the extra that you get with them new. The give you a larger one and a smaller one. I’ll look.

Had to belly land my Spitfire and messed up the air intake cowl. I looked for it on Motions website but it seems the only way to get it is to buy the fuselage.
