I'd be interested in the part numbers for the oleos if they work out well. Also, whatever your solution on the gear doors is would be great to see when complete. I too will be starting bare bones 'til maiden and comfort zone are achieved. Brad

Yep, that's the plan. Not sure whether I'll try a 3-piece door like the full scale, or go for a slightly more simple 2 piece solution like the FMS.

Just finished the basic assembly of my Hog last night. Planning on flying the maiden stock with no decals, then weathering and modding. Also just put in my order for some oleos from HK to scale-ify the main gear.

I did the Red Devils. The pitchfork was a little sketchy. The font on the "no step" labels was bigger but I used them. There was not any of the mechanical labels. The ejection seat warning label was actually smaller.

I used a combo of both sets. Naval aircraft are much more colorful. Just saying.

I let her know that the NO STEP's could be smaller as well but I also still used them.

I felt the Tiger Shark nose art was a little large but communicated that to her. Without an actual plane to check them on she relies on feedback. Not sure about the others.

Thanks for keeping this bird under wraps, RCjetdude, I know it wasn't easy. And thanks for all your skillful work, too! You're right, this aircraft is really a "Detailer's Delight". Customizers like you and Brandon Moon and TiredIronGRB and others will have fun with the possibilities this bird's large palette provides. Might I recommend after your current slew of customizations, to also consider fabricating the adapter rail for the AGM-65s. Were you going to do TERs as well?

Thanks Pete...I noticed the different types of fasteners and wondered how to imitate the round head ones? Did you observe that the wing surface had flat head rivots in the same frequency as the fuse? Rob

Hey Guys...I'm researching the wings trying to get the detail on rivots. It appears from the pics I have seen that they are almost invisible on the wings. Does anybody have any good pics or thoughts? Rob

I didn't get great wing pictures at my walkaround take a look, The fasteners on the front of the fuse are flat head screws and round head behind the wing.

Hey Brad, the lip on the underside of the canopy frame engages under the windshield frame when the canopy slides forward to lock it down. It is actually quite secure along with the fact that the servo is helping to hold it down as well. Help me understand what you mean by the ply tab at the back of the ply sill....

I didn't realize there was a lip on the underside of the leading edge of the canopy or that it slid forward like the LX so that's cool. Second, I was refering to what you are calling the main beam. I didn't know at the time I posted that that was what you were calling it. Terminology is always half the battle. Now we know what to call that 3/8" plywood piece. Great pictures but I'm still having trouble understanding the mechanics of it. So you have 8 pictures in this latest post. I will use them as a reference. In picture #2 does that plate simply keep the main beam from falling through? In picture #4 does that sliding square tube attach to the underside of the canopy? In picture #8 if understand correctly you are using the foam tac as a " hinge" for the leading edge of the styrene plate.Wondering if a small Dubro nylon hinge, #119, might be more durable over time or? Makes good sense that the trailing edge of the canopy helps stabilize the styrene plate. In picture #9 I think I understand your explanation but a side view showing where the clip holes are drilled and where on the bottom of the styrene plate the small plastic bracket is glued. Also, the dimensions of the styrene plate and possibly a template of the main beam would be helpful. I'm wondering how the 1/8" ply sill attaches, I assume, to the bottom of the canopy. My hat is off to you figuring all this out dude! Waiting to see how the servo mechanism works and the video. Thanks, Brad
