I took some pictures of what I did along the way to give a basic idea of how it was done. I removed some additional foam and a small section of plastic from the LG mount and cut a pocket in the foam then glued the servo in place with Foam Tac.
Then I had to extend the back of the door opening about 5/16" so I re-cut the opening and glued the piece to the back of the door. This gave the necessary clearance for the servo arm and pushrod. I use a piece of a spare wire puller that came in one of my recent kits for the rod and a piece of 1/8" styrene tube glued to the door for the door pivot. Once I got the pushrod the right shape and length so the rear door closed and opened properly I cut the forward blister off the wing with one of those utility knives that has the long blade you snap off to keep it sharp. It makes for nice clean cuts.
Next, I removed foam from the blister area to fit the other servo and did the same thing with a pushrod and 1/8" styrene tube glued to the door. The wires pass next to the wing connector board through a slot I Dremeled in the wood bracket that the board screws to. They will plug into a 1 to 4 connector harness I made special for the door servos. One thing to note, the GT POWER Sequencing Module cycles the doors upon power up. What this means is that you must remember to retract the gear before disconnecting the battery so when it does it on the next power up the doors won't bind on the wheel struts. Maybe a minor thing but I know I am going to want to display this beauty with the gear down and I can't imagine having to leave a battery in it the whole time. I may try to investigate other sequencers to see if I can find one that won't do that. Anybody know of one?
