Thanks Rex, still a long way to go. Cockpit pieces are complete and the dry fit is good. Still not sure about putting the rudder peddle rails in, but I'm working on it. Going to follow Daves motor mod and of course, the landing gear mods, scissors and bushings as well as the bay themselves. I may 'weather them by putting the 'salmon' colored zinc chromate in and then repaint, leaving 'chips' in the paint, got to experiment with that rock salt method, it may work in the bays as well as the prop. Still want to get my hands on one of those pilots that Elbee has, Dave and I have discussed it and he wasn't sure of all that Elbee did to modify him. Anyway, it's still a long Winter ahead so lots of time to work on it. Has anyone printed the 'whistles' and installed them or do I have to buy those balls and cut them open. Seems to me, a long time ago, Pilot Ryan and Captain Mike mentioned that there was a 3D program for making those. It would be pretty cool to add those.
Also, since Callie doesn't have a pic on her website for the DD livery, maybe she'll use a pic of mine!
So many ideas, as I said, I don't think they're ever really complete.

Grossman,
From a Great OEM Corsair to an incredible looking well-worn flying miniature. You have raised the bar.

Back together and aged from stem to stern, whew!
From this:
To this:
Even the wife feels sorry for her, poor birds seen enough. Hard to believe she hasn't seen a full day outside yet!
It's never ending, still have the motor to go and the airbrushing as well, not to mention the rear L/G bay and on and on and on....

Grossman56,
Thats the picture I was talking about. Hard to see but it's there. Mounted to the front frame of the sliding canopy. I added the electrical insulator behind the canopy. Made from balsa and a 2-56 bolt with 2 nuts to hold Aerial from the stabilator post. Rex

Thanks Rex, muchly appreciated. F4U Aussie, I've heard Zuess fasteners but they were something like twist locks. God, sucks to get old, I could rattle all this stuff off when I was working on the 3 back in the '90's. Oh well, as long as you know what I'm referring to. For the record, Rex, what size were they?? I'm sure that, at some point, someone is going to ask, be good to have in on this thread.

Grossman56,
Glad you and your better half are doing well. I checked with Motion on the axle diameter and I already made up your wheel bushings. I'll send some axle to strut spacers also. They work well with Elbee's struts.
Best Regards, Rex

Were they zuess fastners??? Racers also use them as they r a flush fitOriginally posted by Grossman56 View PostThanks Rex.
Right now she's in two pieces as I found the last few details will be easier with the fuse and wings separated. She's looking good and I'm hoping to get into the lower sides of the wings this weekend. What I really like is the pink 'coral' dust in the cracks as well as the larger 'snap locks' (can't recall what they were called, but we had them on the DC 3 to lock the cowling pieces in place). We've both been a little under the weather this week after we got through going to Billings to have the wife's angiogram to check out the operation from last year, all is well.
I'll get an update together either tomorrow or Monday.

Mr. Danger Man,
If you go to post 5280 you will find a picture of the birdcage mirror inside the sliding canopy. You'll have to squint hard to make it out but gives an idea where it is. I'm still looking for better pictures.
Any updates to see?
Made your bushings today and will get mailed asap.
Best Regards, Rex
